Blackstar HT-5 Vs Egnater Rebel - Battle of the little guys

Seriously tempted at picking up one of these little guys for a grab and go. My 100 lb rack pre/power amp is annoying at times to transport. I tried out the rebel today, brilliant little amp and design! What are the pro's and cons of either option. Due to price, I am leaning towards the HT-5. But both from clips sound really good, and I thoroughly enjoyed playing the rebel in the store.

Based on the success I think I see from the HT-5, I wouldn't be surprised if the price goes up a little on those in some near future. I really loved the Rebel, sounded brilliant, but for fund reasons, the HT-5 is more in the range my wife will let me look at :D

Though being a snob, I would try to find a way to get a rebel should the majority of thought and research suggest its that much better.
 
I have an HT-5 and I love how it sounds. I'm sure the Egnater sounds great too though, but it's a good bit more expensive.
 
I really didn't like the Rebel I had...there was just something about it. I couldn't gel with it at all. I've had a MOD 50 too. I just don't think I'm a huge fan of the Egnater sound.

The HT-5 on the hand rocks! Instant gratification every time.

Have you considered the Vox AC4? I still want to hear and try one. If it sounds anything like a real Vox (AC15, AC30), it would be my choice.

I just got the Blackstar. I used the discount code at Music 123 and got the head for $254.00. 15OFF4U
I have played the rebel and honestly was a great amp for the money I thought. Great at everything. High gain, mid gain stuff, clean. All I thought did really well. Also could get very loud.
The Blackstar has a great high gain tone, has tons of gain. Can go from 80's to more modern sounding. Sounds pretty chewy. I'm digging it so far. The clean is ok not as good as the rebel in my opinion. I mean it is only 5 watts. Feels like a tube amp even at very low volumes.
Listen to Psychodaves youtube clip of the Blackstar. That is why I bought mine. I think it is one of the best high gain tones I've ever heard on the net. :rock:

For high gain, the Blackstar. For everything else (Clean to mid-gain), I'd pick the Egnater.
 
Just pulled the Trigger on the HT. Thanks for the coupon code, dude 250 bucks, don't think I can go wrong. Heck if I don't like it, I won't be losing too much money if I need to sell at some point. Really looking forward to giving it a try, should be here next week

Just tryed the loop and works good. Also w/d/w it and sounded awesome even at very low volumes. I'm so impressed. This thing just rips. The clean was sounding great with effects. Pretty beefy sounding for what it is.

Didn't think much on the vox side. I know they have the nightrain as well, but it doesn't have an efx loop, very important for me. I am sure they will be decent, I just havn't desired much on teh vox side, though I have one of thier practice amps..
 
sweet! I am excited to plug er in! I would be so happy if I could be comfy taking this guy out instead of my rack when I feel lazy. I will try to post clips when it comes in!
