Blues lesson #1 for JAPETUS

Thats some ragtime
Yes, but if it sounds like the Mississippi river flowing deep and wide, it's also the blues. Pay attention to the old man's lick starting at 2:04.

Your first assignment is getting your hands on the Leadbelly 1976 movie and watching it so you know what you are getting yourself into. It might change your mind and save us both some time.

Alright I will but realize, that style was invented in my backyard and streets where I grew up...I'll send you some clips, you'll make a real bluesman out of me yet suhh

You have already impressed me with your listening skills in recognizing the ragtime infused playing of the guitarist. The actual guitarist doing both parts in the pitcher show is Brownie Mcghee, who was quite a player, and from Knoxville TN. Also, from this point forward we will be referring to it as a guh-tar as we get you more deeply acclimated to that blues life.

You're right for chastising me. I shouldn't be sharing blues secrets with any Tom, Dick, or Harry up in the main sub-section. I guess I was feeling too generous for a minute. That'll get you killed in this business.

I did move it, but maybe you can gain some blues knowledge as well. Let's learn. And play Blues.
Since we are on the subject of ragtime infused playing here is the all time master of the style. Blake disappeared into history. Some say hit by a streetcar, others say he froze to death when he was drunk, still others say pneumonia.

It was strictly a joke

Wouldn't hurt me to learn some. Correct. This is pretty old but about as close to blues music as I've ever gotten.

This is why I have started what will become an in depth series. It's mainly for Japetus cause he said he wants to become a bluesman but I'm not asking anyone to hit like or subscribe or even to click the bell notification icon to participate. All are welcome. The lessons will sort out the pretenders.
