Haven't played one in a long time but remember liking it. Im' getting bored of my 900 and need to move on. i needs versatility. but play mostly mid and high gain music (Disciple, Van Halen, Ratt, I occasionally play worship music)

would this be a good choice for me?

I personally did not like the Alchemist much. It was a let down for me, but I played the combo, perhaps a head would be a different result. Pretty flubby for me. Some people can jive with it, but I think just as many others don't. It could however be a step up from your 900 though

Yeah it was a little flubby I remember that. think an EQ could fix that? I like my 900 but really regret getting rid of my AC15 for it

I heard changing the pre amp tubes helped alot.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll definitely try that if I decide to get one

not sure if an eq or tube change would fix it completly, perhaps. Though I wouldn't by an amp that you instantly have to do fixes on you know, I am sure you could find something else, but who knows, you may love it. I would venture to say that for me, the alchemist would work just fine for leads, but I would hate it for any rythm work. I think it is a waste to put a delay on the amp, and then not have a foot tap for it as well.

I don't think Bogner hit the nail on the head with this amp however, and evidently, seeming how they are now in the clearance section of some GC's or what not, they must have not done that well.

Thanks!

I best be looking for something else then. right now I've only got about a 800ish dollar budget after the 900 goes

i thought it was awesome! i would love to own one. its would be a perfect gigging amp for me, built in delay is a feature i love, and it sounded good as well. the clean and the gains were great, as for reliability i dunno i dont own one but i imagine its fine, ive owned amps that people swore to me not to buy because they "break down" but never had a single issue with. maybe some people shouldnt throw their amps out the window and down flights of stairs etc...

I don't think it's flubby. This is completely stock:

That sounds nice, Bob :)

Do you have several tracks of Alchemist in the clip?

Thats a sweet clip. How does the amp take to pedals in front?

Hey Bob, are you wearing Slacks and a metal tshirt together in that vid? Thats wierd....if you are...

Mr. Savage gets some great tone out of the Alchemist, but then again he gets great tone out of just about anything, so

I spent a couple of hours playing with one, and it's a pretty nice amp (tonally) for the price point, especially, IMO. I managed to dial up some pretty good tones, both hi gain and clean.

Thanks Knut. Rhythm is doubletracked and a lead track.

As much as I would like to say those are slacks, they're jeans, just not blue. The shirt is made of cotton though, not metal.

Thanks Casey... but I'm twisting the same knobs as anybody else would be.

In any event, I don't find the amp "flubby." it's got a bit of vintage sag to it by design, but I don't feel or hear flubby.

Bobs clip sounds nice. My personal experience and other clips I have heard I don't dig as much. but thats me, your personal experience could totally be different.

Thanks for all the help guys, I'll be sure to re try and and see if I like it. it's pretty tempting
