Bogner Burnley or Bogner Red or ???????

Which hi gain distortion pedal around $200 or less is best with a clean amp?

It must sound great at band volume.

I want a pedal that sounds like a hi gain hot rodded marshall.

I like the guitar tones of John Sykes, John Norum, and Doug Aldrich

That is exactly what the Bogner Red is. Best pedal on the planet.

Bogner Red or Burnley for sure...can't go wrong with either one
Red more versatile

Never had the Burnley but I had the Red and it was awesome sounded more like an amp than a pedal. Would definitely purchase one again

There is a good YouTube video that does a shoutout with the Burnley and the Suhr Riot. I have both and both work great. I have a tone king SkyKing combo amp. Has the most amazing fendery blackface clean sound I have ever heard. The Burnley seems to me a little more picky about what amp it works well with. The Riot into the SkyKing sounds like I'm playing a Marshall half stack cranked. Really good.

I am leaning towards the Burnley, because it seems to sound thicker/bigger.

I am concerned that it maybe a little too dark and may get lost in a band situation.

I have not played a Burnley, but I have the Bogner Red - and while it's an awesome pedal in it's own right, I wouldn't really label it a "hot-rod Marshall" pedal. It's designed to mimic the Red channel on the Xtc. I find that it can get lost a little in a band setting. I would recommend the Carl Martin Plexitone (the 3 button one with Crunch, Hi-Gain, and Boost channels) over the Red if you want hot-rod Marshall. WAY more Marshall-y and has all the cut and bite you would want in a band setting. I have played entire gigs with just that pedal into a clean amp and a delay. Sweet pedal.........
