Bogner cabs compared to Line 6 DT50 cabs?

The Line 6 DT50 cabs look very similar to the Bogner 4x12s. The speakers are a bit different (the L6 has V30s and something that's suppose to be similar to a CL80) and it's made of 11-ply poplar rather than birch like the Bogner.

Anyone play through both and can compare? I've read that Bogner cabs seem to be more than the sum of their parts; just curious if the Line 6 replicates that or if it's just superficial similarities.

Thanks guys. I have the chance to pick up a used DT50 4x12 for a good price, but I'm pretty sure I know how it'll end: I'll be happy with the DT50 cab for about a month and then I'll convince myself that it must be inferior to te real Bogner cab and then I'll be stuck trying to sell it and buying the Bogner. Maybe I'll just skip that intermediate step, but I was curious if anyone's had any direct experience with both cabs.

The only problem with a Line6 cab is it says Line6, if you're ok with that then it should be fine...lol

Agreed... but I picked-up one of those V30-loaded Line6 cabs on the cheap a while back and am VERY happy with it. I may not compare to my old Bogner Uberkab, but it sure compares well to my Marshall JCM900 1960B cab. In fact, the cab back on the Line6 is plywood, while the Marshall is MDF. The Line6 seems to be very well built.

sickwindsor I'm all ears... answer the budget cab question once and for all. The Avatars and lopolines of the cab world always come up in conversation and people want to know what they are missing.

I bought a used H & K 4x12 with greenbacks for $275 at a music store in Milwaukee. It is all wood, heavy gauge wiring, just real well built. It doesn't say Marshall so no one wanted it.

Thanks guys. I'm particularly interested in the DT50 cab because Bogner was supposed to be involved in the design and they at least superficially look very similar to the Bogner 4x12s. I'll try to go check it out.

Any news?
I"ve found this cab in good price, I want to decide till tomorrow but nothing special on the web:/

I know nothing about Line 6 cabs but I'm not much into Line 6 products ;)

I do have a Bogner 4x12 slant with v30's and is the best 4x12 cab I own and I have Marshall, Splawn, VHT and Soldano 4x12's. The Bogner takes the cake and and sounds great with whatever I amp I use it with.

I've played those Line 6 cabs in stores before and I was impressed considering their price and brand. Having said that, I own a Bogner straight 4x12 with Greenbacks and/or G1265s (I've used both) and it is my favorite cab by far.

Thanks. That's what I need to hear. Close, but not the Bogner.

DT50 cab is a bit lighter, though (88 vs 100 lbs), that could come in handy. But I'm more interested in sound quality.

I know this wont go over too good withe Soldano fanbois but their 4x12's are smaller sized than normal 4x12's. The Soldano 4x12 I have just OK, it doesn't flat out suck but it just doesn't sound great in comparison to my other cabs.

Without trying the specific Line6 cab, I have a really hard time thinking it would compare to the Bogner. Bogner makes some of the best cabs in the biz.

Soldano cabs sound best with their own amps. They are very unique, and have A LOT of low end resonance when close micing.

Let me now what sound your going for?

I think they won't compare. Bogner is Bogner. There are still some differences, like wood.
Now, please give me your opinions:
It's not to bother that DT50 is made from poplar?
How you compare birch with poplar?Maybe in metal the wood differences wouldn't be audible?

I play groove metal(peavey 5150), so my will is for tight, articulate sound, with BIG UMPH!

Would you buy DT50 for 540$new?

In the same price I can get Hughes&Kettner 412 Statesman cab(almost sure made from birch)
