Bogner Marshall variants vs Friedman SS

I do a few D chords on the recording and the growl is there. There’s also delay parallel mixed in the loop which subdues the effect a lot on phone recording IMO.

If you scoop the mids, and I mean really scoop, I’ve never had an amp still growl if it’s modded Marshall. I’ve not played a Helios or a Herman but nothing else I own acts like that? You have to have the mids dialed in to get that growl character otherwise it doesn’t exist.
Yes, those D chords is in particular is where I hear a smoother, maybe hollow tone quality in the upper half of the midrange. Maybe I'm not describing it as well as someone more technical can

I'm talking about inherent qualities of the amp's sound. For example, amps I've had with brittle highs still have that inherent quality IME no matter how much I lower treble, presence, etc. Yes, it'll be very faint after a point, but listen to it and it's there. It's not really fixing the problem, but just masking it. Same with the mids, etc. I would never realistically scoop an amp like that, I just meant no matter how much or how little mids I dial in on my amp's that have good midrange growl, the growl itself is not really getting stronger/throatier/hairier or weaker/smoother in nature, just more or less present. On the Hermansson 5GS I had I could dial in an obnoxious amount of midrange, but it was still super hollow, smooth in quality with no growl whatsoever or imo anything interesting tonally in that region, super bland. It's forte is more in the character of it's aggressive higher end, which is awesome. Same with a mark iic+. Engage the GEQ, turn the 750 slider all the way up and you get a very present, annoying, whiny midrange with no growl or to me anything interesting tonally in that region

SD-1s cut lows and boost mids so you must be speaking of the super high mids just below treble.

I’ve never had a marshallesque amp act like that and it might be a difference in tubes and speakers and other factors that differ in our 2203 style rigs. I do get what you mean but that’s not how amps loaded and setup how I use them have acted. My Laney, both Marshall’s, and XTC (blue) are all 2203 variants and without mids they don’t growl ?

It's probably just me not explaining it as well as I could (maybe since I'm not too technical), but also one those things that's much easier to demonstrate rather than explain verbally
