You think they're gonna be different enough sounds to warrant buying this? Just wondering how much difference there'll be between the gains....if it's pretty similar I won't bother, but if it's a huge difference and something that'll add to it, then I'll pick it up.

Anyone tried it with a darker voiced amp, like a 6505 or a Mesa?

Thanks, guys

Do you mean setting the 6505 at low gain and using the Bogner Red on the lead channel as the main tone generator, running the 6505's lead channel and boosting it with the Red, or using the Red as the main tone generator with the 6505's rhythm channel?

I'd imagine it'd sound best, and different enough, if you just ran it to the poweramp of your 6505.

Mostly meant using it on the rhythm channel set clean and using it as a distortion pedal for that channel, and then switching to the lead for solos. Just haven't heard any good clips of it into anything but a really good clean channel, like a Fender Twin or whatever.

You think it'd play nice with the 6505?

Looking for something heavy, just in a different vein than the lead channel on the 6505...

I use my Red into the front end of a 5150 2X12 combo. I have the rhythm channel set very clean and the EQ set to taste for the lead channel.

The Red sounds fantastic into this amp. Very different then the lead channel. The Red is smoother, and more low mid voiced but still has a more vintage voice. The 5150/6505 has a more modern voice.

The boost feature on the Red works great for soloing. Since I got the Red I havent used the lead channel much on my 5150...

THAT'S what I was looking for, man...someone who had basically the same amp and was using it like I want to...much appreciated.

thanks. was wondering the same thing myself.....going to grab a red pedal here after tax return!
thanks for the insight!

I'd love a red, or even a blue.

My favorite tone I have right now, believe it or not, is my OCD with it's level and gain set past halfway into my Recto's modern channel with it's gain only at 25%.
Stacking that pedals warm and dynamic gain with the Recto set for a fat, light, crunch tone sounds unbelievable.

clips or its a gorilla full stack
Who, me? My clips suck and my camcorder makes them suck even harder. Been playing that setup more than my Soldano, VHT, 6505, 2203KK and Engl lately though. So that should say something.

The Red sounds great into the few amps I've tried it with. I haven't played it into a 6505/5150 but if you set it up on the clean channel set as clean and neutral as possible, I'm sure it would sound great. Or you could hit the fx return and bypass the preamp as someone said. That pedal is pure magic, seriously. Set it up right and you'll swear you're playing an Ecstasy (had a 101B for a minute back in the day).

So the Bogner pedals are meant to run as totally dedicated preamps right? No reason to use a semi dirty/crunchy base tone on the amp to start with?

The red and blue are meant to go into a clean amp...

Yup, clean amp. The Red especially sounds much, MUCH worse when running into a crunchy channel.

Shows tomorrow; Ill mess around with it in the next few days and report back. Stoked.

Not to hijack or anything, just wanted to share the Bogner Red love, lol (just got one). Here's a quick test jam I'm working on (already had the WIP tune layed out - so I fooled around with the new pedal and my Tweaker head to find a decent lead tone that would sit well enough here). I'm considering taking the Tweaker 40 back though and nabbing a Stiletto Ace Head (that has supposedly already been slightly modded) and using it for pedals and cleans. Anyways...

^^ Dude that sat really well in your mix.....really dug the lead tone. Nice job!
