No, I'm not talking about the shark channel on the Fish.

In a Guitar One article, Jerry Cantrell spoke of using the "Bogner Fish and the Shark, which is a preamp and a power amp".

What the hell is this power amp? :scared:

Here's the part of the article where he talks about it:
Gear information culled from Guitar One article:
I used everything in the studio. I had a really great experience in the studio. Actually, for amps I used the Bogner Fish before and the Shark, which is a preamp and a power amp, but what I'm using now is just a straight head, the Bogner Shiva. I use those heads almost exclusively on this record. It's a little smaller than a regular head. I was very cocky about my sound, so I was like, "Well, this is what I use, I use these." My engineer, Jeff Tomei, said, "Man, you gotta try this amp out, it's really cool." I like all Bogner amps pretty much, but I've got my thing, which I thought was my sound, and really, your sound is in your hands anyway. It really doesn't matter what you play through. So, I ended up blowing out my amp about five or six songs in, and then I had to use this amp. But after I used it, I went back and re-recorded all of my tracks. It's so good, and that's what I'm using live, the Bogner Shiva.

I pm'd Rob about this. Maybe Jerry had Reinhold build him a one-off power amp? Or it was a prototype

I used to see them in clubs in Seattle back in the day. He was using a VHT 2150 then, with his Bogner Fish.

Yeah that's what I've heard. Also heard he used Mesa power amps for awhile too. You're lucky to have seen them!
I'm going to check em out later this month. No Layne, but it should still be a great show

He was using a Mosfet power amp in the late 80's early 90's as well.

That's funny, I was just telling Rob and Jorg that "Shark" should be the name for the new power amp they are talking about. ;)

I've convinced that the "Shark" was a prototype that never went into production. It is clearly a real thing since Jerry talked about it. It's right there in the guitar one mag.

I'm waiting on Rob to message me back. Perhaps he has insight on this. :dunno:

Jerry also used a Bogner "Snorkler" and that may have been what he was talking about? I dont know the date of this interview so I am just taking a guess.
