Howdy... ! Have recently heard and seen most of the wonderful XTC clip here and am wanting to get 1 ... but due to where am from i would have to change the PT of da XTC from 117V to 240V...

I have also heard the older model which came stock on these XTC has the MM transformer and was wider and aggressive in tone...

I recently think why not just go with a used 117V market and do an upgrade by getting the MM power transformer or set as an upgrade as it was previously often discussed that the older XTC that came with these MM transformers has all the tone which most people like and also get it converted to 240VAC...

Has any XTC guru here ever do such transformer upgrades ? Was it really better in tone?

I also have noted that most XTC plate voltages are 500V++ range... but after seeing what MM provides on its PT replacement it was merely 200V-0-200V... will this ever gets into the 500V range for the plate voltages ?

The OT was the only MM iron, the PT is custom to Bogner. The MM OT was not a commercial off-the-shelf part and was a custom design that was ordered to Bogner's specifications and in limited quantities for only a few years. You cannot and will not get the specifications calling MM. He eventually transitioned to his own designs and cores. In the early days of Bogner's amplifiers, he wound his own designs but found there was too much variance amplifier to amplifier.

You'd have better luck contacting Bogner directly with your desire to get a 240V version and see if once you purchase an older model, determine whether he can convert it for you with possible NOS parts for the euro market.

Ouch... thought the MM has gotta early specification of the XTC thus making their aftermarket tranny replacement set...

Thanks for ya great info and advise.. would they be easy on sending PT to user like us?

Check with your local tech first after getting it. It's more than likely the PT has a 240v tap. If it does then it's like a $50 job to switch it to 240v.

Would like so... but the seller is here too at the classified ad lol... didnt wanna trouble him to help take the amp apart for a photo shot... i just email Bogner regarding the acquiring of their PT thou have read on their web that they dont sell PTs to customers for their input voltage swap...

But can anybody tells me if i be still 95% close to the bogner tone even if i were to find the right replacement PT at second party aftersales market?

Take this good offer with a PT swap or take the plunge or pay more for a 230V XTC unit?
