IMHO the pedals have more gain than the amps unless you put the pedal on a spanky clean channel. Bogners are love em or leave amps, I left them. Red channel on the XTC was always a bummer for me, too mushy with no attack IMHO, but the blue channels are nice.

That's why the Classic and now 20th have reworked Red channels.
The all-time favourite is the Blue on the 101B I reckon

I had the Shiva 20th, I thought it was a decent amp but I always used a pedal to tighten it up. I thougt about revisiting it but after trying one out I passed. I had a 101b and liked the blue channel, but even the Marvel mod didn't help the red channel much. Boosting it with a decent OD and it was pretty cool, but.....

I think the problems you had with the XTC and Shiva would be answered with the 20th XTC. The Red channel was super tight in my opinion. I loved that amp. Here is a clip I did with the Red channel (no boost used): https://soundcloud.com/gibson5413/xtc-d ... ou-love-me

Love my 20thA-X, EL34 version. Yes, desert island material 100% of the way.

^^
I am still shocked that you don't have it anymore. I'm never selling mine. Sorry to derail but is the Kemper working out for you?

It is working out for my situation. I like it quite a bit. Regardless of how much I love the Kemper the 20th Anniv XTC is my favorite tube amp. It had everything I loved in regards to tone and feel. If I could own it along with the Kemper I could easily call it a day. I spend 99% of my time recording and playing at home. I am auditioning for a local cover band and they want me to plug direct into the board so they can control the band sound. The Kemper is the easiest solution for this (for me). I know the 20th Anniv XTC is a lot of dough but I can say without hesitation that it is completely worth it.

Thanks, I may have to buy one. All of the posts on RT are positive.

I'm glad it's working out for you, and good luck! Maybe you get another one when you start rolling in the dough.

That is saying something. You have some awesome clips on various gear over time.

Leanna Decker

DD Decker...

Haven't tried the pedals but own a 100B. The pedals do not sound as good as the amp from clips I've heard.
