TGP sucked into the foray
https://www.thegearpage.net/board/showth ... p?t=400326

If in fact there is a competing booteeker somehow offering incentives to bash a competitor on TGP - thats pretty weak...

If D'Pergo thinks that the drop in sales of his $5000 + bolt on neck guitars are somehow related to this and not our fucked up economy - he's just stupid.

For the record -I'm sure his guitars are nice - but those headstocks are FUGLY AS SIN

Sounds like a bunch of BS. I wouldnt be surprised if this doesnt cause them to shut down TGP. That would suck ass too because it's a great place to get info on gear that guys here dont use and not to mention a great place to sell and buy.

Oh well. I guess now maybe some of you will understand why the mods are so damn picky about what is discussed there. I can only imagine running a forum and being threatened with legal action like this. Access to private message, lol! I'm sorry if they're having problems with people lying about their guitars but get the hell out of here with the idea of having access to the private messages of the forum. This is a little like throwing out the baby with the bath water; they'll never be respected on any forum if they get what they want from these legal proceedings.

I don't think he is going after TGP, from what I read I thought he want's access to private messages to see if other builders are the ones who are encouraging the "shit talk" on his guitars

Whenever people say negative things about my business online I put on an aluminum foil hat and go hide in my fall out shelter. :loco:

Well Chris, I had to lay off Carl from my payroll. I hired him to make negative posts on Rig Talk but it got way too expensive

If they want private message access they should get in contact with Mitch...

...what? too soon?....

I have heard of companies hiring people to go on message boards and raise hoopla about products to try to increase sales. I have not heard of companies hiring people to slap down their competitors on message boards with negative posts.

I have tried to figure out who is endorsing Thump, but you can't, one week its VHT, then Fender, then Marshall, then Gibson, now Wampler effects.... :poke: :D :D :D

ha ha ha! I'm sorry, but the way Bob and I "outed" him was downright brilliant. Sending messages to each other that RT was going to be bought by Musicians Friend, then waiting for him to spring the trap. Just freaking brilliant... That should go down in history as one of the best thingies in history.
I agree - that was pretty crafty. I remember I was just about to pm greazygeo with my credit card info to buy a deliverance cab when I read the "Mitch is reading our private messages" thread. I admit I actually thought it was a joke at first. All I can say is - what a tool.

Pretty hard to believe that this guy received information that someone was trying to kill his business but I could see it happen.

The funny thing is that there is a thread right now......." Marshall VM is a POS......" Now why is that thread 6+ pages while it is a known fact you will not create this type of thread???? Vicky Marshall should come a knocking on their door maybe

I do have a point that I will draw the line and common sense takes over in regards to gear purchases, but there are some kooks that feel the need to justify spending $5000 - 6000 on a bolt on neck guitar (or amp) - and they are the prime movers in the pissing matches that result in the shit like the DePergo debacle happening. I firmly believe in having better tools to get the job done, but if it all blew up tomorrow a Squire Strat or Tokai / Epiphone LP and a Fender G-Dec amp would suffice. I can't say I've ever seen a photo of a single known guitar player in a band with a DePergo guitar - they define upper echelon uber corksniffer for me (and I can be rightly accused of having some pretty cork sniffery tastes)

Only at TGP

Pretty much. It has a magic combination of elements that brings out the crazy in some of the boutique crowd.

It should go down in something as one of the best thingies in something, anyway. :)

OT and not trying to hijack but I was just over at TGP and the layout of the board there is terrible. I guess we are just spoiled because this layout here is nasty (in a good way), but the 15 posts to a page and the outdated font make it hard to spend much time there.

Rock on.

Lots here know me as just having fun and I could get away with a used beater Kramer, DSL, and a Boss pedal board and have a tone of fun but yeah I am lucky to have a good job and very cool wife ;)

I will readily admit that I have played guitar that are far better built than my Ivebeenhads but they work for me so why change? Of course I do have the Hamer and GMWs.

The latest thread there you ask?

" What is the boutique AC30?"

No, it's "what is the quintessential AC30 ...?"

How bout' a fucking AC30 ????

D'pergo makes a great guitar, certainly the best bolt-on Fender style guitar that I've ever played, and I had two of them at one point. He also seems to be sort of nice guy just from the two times that I spoke to him on the phone. That being said, this motion that he is bringing in court is just nuts. I knew he was absolutely paranoid about his product, but this is bit far to say the least. I mean what dumb ass rival guitar company would send PM's to people offering them money to spread crap about d'pergo? No idiot leaves a paper trail like that.
