Decided to try the Kemper out. Kind of exciting and now just playing the waiting game.

I have been researching tons of profiles and have an idea of a few to start with but what about general hardware/user tips?

I got this advised to me by one user:

"do an initiate globals in the system menu. Make sure Purecab is off in the output menu. Initiate globals will turn this back on."

Any other tips or tricks I should know?

Edit: Got a powered toaster and will be using it through a guitar cab to start with.

Congrats! I'm very interested in this as well. Thinking of doing the exact same thing: using a Powered Kemper to direct profile my own amps and going through guitar cabs.

I will definitely try to profile but I will probably end up leaving it to the experts. I believe it takes a lot of practice and skill and that not all profiles are equal. Could be wrong though.

profiling really isnt that difficult...mic'n can be tricky but it's pretty dang accurate

on the powered rig you're getting, the out "out to cab" 1/4" may bypass the cab sim...dunno...but make sure the cab sim is off.

what cab will you be using?

I have a Mills Afterburner with Vintage 30s. I also have a Peavey Valveking 4x12. Will test them both but for my tube amp the Mills is by far the clear winner. I am wondering the flatter sound of the Sheffields in the Peavey may work good with the Kemper idk.

Yeah, I'm hoping to take a "direct" profile to take the practice/skill part out of the equation. Assuming the Kemper does what it's supposed to do accurately, a direct capture should be a replica of my exact amp heads exactly the way I use them, and then I'd put that amp-head profile into my exact cabs. So there should be zero tweaking or guess work. But that's assuming Kemper does what it says it does.

Nice...And yeah I know the difference between miked and DI by definition but have no real world experience just yet. Should do exactly what you think. I guess I will test with my amp as well once I get the Kemper.
