Episode 51: Boss BD-2w Blues Driver (Waza Craft)
If there is one pedal in the Boss lineup that I underestimated for its ability to rock, it’s the Blues Driver. Despite its unassuming name, the BD-2 has a significant amount of gain. The new Waza Craft incarnation of the Blues Driver is no exception!
To be totally honest, I haven’t done a shootout between the BD-2 and BD-2W yet; that will be an entire video in of itself. What I can say about the BD-2W, is that it sounds great! It has a very nice amount of gain, and it sounds pretty amp like. With the gain cranked, you can get a relatively high gain tone, even on a clean channel! This pedal also shines goosing the high input of my 2203. If you need to add a little brightness, just turn the tone knob past 12:00 and you will be good! It's hard to get a bad sound from it.
The two modes are pretty similar, with the Custom mode being the darker of the two. I also detected a bit more fullness in this mode.
Overall, you are good to go with either incarnation of the Blues Driver. Stay tuned for a BD-2 vs BD-2W shootout!
