hey guys,
While I am waiting for my Splawn Nitro to arrive.. I am trying to decide on a Chorus and Delay pedal to use with it.

I pretty much just need a good sounding chorus. I dont need something thats gonna make it sound like an acoustic or anything like that.. but for chorus, need something warm and smooth when playing cleans. Is the Ce-5 a good choice? the price they sell for seems right.

For delay.. I just need something that can do different types or times of delay and would like it to do the "spill over" thing when turning off the delay. Is the DD3 a good choice? or should I look into the DD5 and DD6? I remember having the RV3 and it was a cool pedal.

Any advice is helpful.

Cheers

the DD20 is great for such applications. they leave trails. excellent sound quality. preset memory banks. good stuff.

i want to sell mine, but i don't have a pay-pal account.

look for a boss RCE-10 half rack mount chorus.

unbelievable. sounds like a jazz chorus but with more versatility.

and it takes a 9Vdc

Thanks... I do like the idea of those Bigger boss pedals but only thing is, I'd like to stick to the compact size stomp boxes as I dont have much room on my pedal board.

Rack stuff is nice but I'd like to stick to pedals. less stuff to take live.

line 6 echo park leaves trails and their delays sound great to me. heck, while you are at it, check out their space chorus. the boss is more of a bright, shimmering chorus and the line6 can do the older, fat chorus (the only one i like, plus the shimmering thing too) and they are the same size as the standard boss pedals.

The Marshall Echohead delay has the "spill over" feature as well as 7 types of delay. Great pedal.

For chorus pedals, I've been spoiled by a vintage Japanese Boss CE-2 that I have. It sounds great. I've played with the newer Boss chouses and they don't sound nearly as good.

Check out the TC Electronics Nova Delay. It works very good in the effects loop, has some cool mod effects, 9 memory banks, and it isn't too large.

The Boss CE-5 is the Chorus Ensemble right? I had one of those for years, they sound good IMHO. I compared one to a CE-2 and they were very close. If you can get a CE-5 cheap then i would go that route. IMHO, a CE-2 isn't worth the corksniffer prices.

I just find my CE-2 has a wider, thicker sound to it. You're right though about the prices of these on the used market thses days. I lucked out and got one for $45 at a local pawn shop about 6 years ago.

Thanks guys.. I had a CE-2 couple of years ago and then Is old it for cheap. stupid move but oh well.

I guess I'll check out the CE-5 Chorus for starters and see how that sounds.

For delay.. I'll see if I can get my hands on an RV-3 cause I do remember it sounding good and I liked it at the time. If not, then I'll check into the DD3.

Thanks again guys!

The RV-3 is cool because it has both delay and reverb, and you can use them together or separately. Got mine for $100 a few years back.

Hey guys,
Anyone know which of the Boss delay pedals that allow Spill-over? basicly you turn the delay pedal off but it has trail or spill-over type thing.

Thanks

Hey guys,
Ok.. I picked up a Boss RV-3 Digital Delay/Reverb and a Boss CE-5. Both are excellent pedals and were definitly worth buying.

The RV-3 has the delay spill over feature.

Cheers

the boss delays are fine if you need only one delay setting, i myself have a dd20 that will give you 5 presets for different settings. as far as chorus's like the other guys said, ce's are cool but kinda pricey huh, and stay away from the boss superchorus. a real nice choice are the ibanez/maxon analog chorus, the pink ones, amazing chorus i use one when i track in the studio.

i've had a ce 5 for few months and it's a decent enough pedal. my favorite feature is the bass and treble cuts. it's nice to be able to cut treble if you're using single coils and roll off some bass for humbuckers. when i first got it i wasn't sure how useful i'd find those controls.. but they have enough sweep to keep things tight.
if i were a high gain player i'd probably put it through more paces though. i think it does its best work on lower gain settings.. imho.

Well.. mostly if I use the Chorus pedal, it'll be with Clean sounds.
