The legendary Boss DM-2. What can I say about this pedal that hasn't already been said? Actually, prior to picking this one up, I had never played one. They aren't all that common around town, and the cost has always prevented me from snagging one. Well, I got a sweet deal and I had to take the plunge!

There are 3 revisions of this pedal out there. The first differs from the second and third by way of the BBD chip. Apparently, there is no real difference in sound between them all, although internet hype will tell you otherwise. This pedal is the second revision I believe with the BBD3205 chip.

Ok, so the DM-2 is an analog delay. What does that mean? Aside from the technical aspects, the pedal has a somewhat short delay time (up to 330 ms), yet it has a very warm and beautiful sound to the repeats. It uses a totally different technology than digital delays, and because of the limitations of said technology, the sound has a very specific and pleasing sonic characteristic. It reminds me of my EHX Memory Man, but without the modulation. Yes, it sounds analog.

The Repeat Rate knob controls the delay time, the Echo knob controls the delay volume, and the Intensity knob controls the 'Feedback' or the number of repeats. One of the great things you can do with this pedal, is to crank the Intensity knob, and enjoy the self oscillation. You can create some crazy sounds when you move the Repeat Rate knob while this is happening.

Overall, this is a classic pedal! There is a reason why they go for so much money these days. I'm excited to compare this with the DM-3 at some point.

Got mine
Hard to say it's not my favorite of the bunch

BTW I was scratching my head as to why you would use the 5150 when it has the worst cleans out of your nice collection of amps. Then I noticed it wasn't powered on, and just knew the Bandmaster had to be somewhere

On a side note, I picked up a Dyna Drive today. So far, I've been running it as a boost into the second channel of my Pittbull. Level and tone full, drive just a tad above off, great lead tone!

Haha, actually, I've used the same JCM 800 reissue for everything. Funny story: I was initially going to use that Bandmaster for the very first video, but it was having issues, so I used the 800. Along the way, couple people commented that I should use the exact same gear for every review as a sort of 'control' element, so I did. So that's why the 800 and the Switchback are in every single video.

Awesome, glad you like it! It's a pretty underrated pedal!

I have one of these from the 80's. Never use it anymore!!

Mine has been in a box for over 20 years. Nice pedal, but there are others I prefer.
