BOSS ES8 Connection To Herbert MKIII Steps?

This is my 2nd Herbert, and I want a simple connection method for a BOSS ES8 switcher. This is not intuitive. BOSS stated the ES8 is NOT phantom “powereable“, but Diezel said it was - thus MIDI is not an option. TRS to the FS7 jack will not work either. Most likely this is by design.

What are the options?
What are the steps?

Or do I just get a second Columbus?

No offense, but your logic seems flawed. MIDI is still an option, regardless of how the Boss is powered. Reading the other posts on the Boss, however, it remains to be seem if they are compatible. I know the AxeFx has some ground issue preventing compatibility.
