I just snagged this for 20% off
Prymax has the code but none in stock; zzounds had it in stock and did a price match + and 6 month payments

I already have an fx8 which is totally awesome....but I practice at a 2nd floor walkup and the fx8 case is quite heavy. Sometimes I just bring my amp footswitch and ditch the delays to keep it more compact and simple. But the ms-3 is actually a smaller footprint than the stock footcontroller that came with my 5150 50w or Katana footswitch

So just as a midi controller this thing looks like a great compact unit. I'll likely use my 808x up front and ms-3 for some delays reverbs and swirly swirly sounds.

I've had my eye on that pedal since I first heard about it. That's a decent price. The DD-500 is a great delay pedal, so if the FX on the MS-3 are the same quality, then I'd like to hear about it after you get acclimated.

arriving later today....
Stoked! I feel like I might blow out an ACL carrying that fx8 in the hard Gator case up the stairs

Let me know if you put the FX8 up for sale. I'll check this thread later to get your initial assessment.

I love my fx8, but maybe.....

MS-3 upside down iphone picture walk!

Comparing the size to an 808x, EVH 5150 50w, and Katana Foot controllers

on the metro16

downloading software and updates now....good news- the wireless Volto can power this thing!!

They just got one in at my local shop. I'm headed there after work to check it out. I doubt it will knock a Strymon off my board, but if it's as good as the DD-500, you never know. Ha!

It's got a less than intuitive way to hook this up in 4cm with AMP. I almost thought it was a FAIL until I found this video:

Now I have it hooked up, it rocks!
Kind of sad there's no Dimension C effect, but regardless there's lot of cool options. This will totally work and it's in a package that can go into my guitar bag side pocket

Are you running it through the FX of a tube amp?

Yes, it is hooked up in 4cm with evh 50w
It's very quiet and clear.

The fx8 is such an amazing machine, but my fx needs are kind of simple (Phaser, EQ, Delay) and I think this Boss will do it well.

Ok, this ms-3 is a keeper and legit....but when working with the software for editing via usb cable, there is an annoying buzz hum. Unplug the usb and it is dead quiet. So when dialing in my tones I'm needing to hear this awful noise floor, wtf. Still better than dealing with the scroll parameter buttons, but I hope this gets resolved at some point.

I want to hear more when you've had a chance to put it through some paces. The one they got in had been on reserve so the guy practically picked it up as soon as it was unloaded from UPS. I wasn't able to play one. They say Guitar Center is stocking them now, so maybe this weekend I can sneak down there and check one out. Particularly, how are the effects? Does it do a good job with subtle effects or does it only sound good with a heavier mix? The one thing I'd love to get that I can't get from my Strymon is a real nice and subtle flanger and phaser sound. I just want that little FX sparkle riding my tone, not changing my signal too much.

You should be able to get that. The fx are decent- not blowing for 2017 but solid. The great part is the editing capabilities; you can dial in fx level and direct level on like a half a dozen different phasers for example. The default was an extreme phaser sound, but dialing in direct really helped to get it where it sits in the mix in a more subtle way (which is what i usually like too).

Funny, the Katana updates offer more choices, but I'm guessing this will get updated too. They seem very similar in layout and fx performance.

^keep in mind I'm the opposite of a cork sniffer for delay and reverb. I'm happy with most delays I have tried, but it's the parameters and tap that I really value.

Have you ever used the DD-500? If so, how does the delay compare to it?
