Hi all,
Has anyone noticed the vast change in EQ when running through the RC-300?
I'll start by explaining my set up.
I have 2 identical mixers. 1 as a premix before connecting to the Boss RC-300, and the second as a "front of house".
Each signal has a splitter switch, giving me 6 signals: vocal mic A/B, Guitar A/B and Stomp box A/B
So the chain goes:
•Vocal mic A, guitar A and stomp box A into mixer 1
•Mixer 1 into Boss RC-300 (via single XLR)
•Boss RC-300 into channel 1 of mixer 2 (Via balanced jack as its the only output option)
•Mixer 2 to speakers.
•Vocal mic B, Guitar B and stomp box B into channels 2, 3 and 4 of mixer 2
This way I can record, for example, guitar and stomp box while singing, but without recording vocals by selecting vocal mic B signal and bypassing both mixer 1 and Boss RC-300. Same for any other combination.
The issue is that the Boss RC-300 affects the EQ horribly, boosting the highs (making the guitar very changy and bodyless) and drops the lows, removing all the bass from the stomp box.
I try and eq both mixers to sound the same but the tone that the RC-300 produces is so harsh its almost impossible.
Has anyone else noticed this? Is there a way around it?
Thanks,
Ash.
