Boss SD-1 MIJ or TS808 HW into Marshall Plexi

These are the only two options. Tell me which one and why....

If the amp has some gain I'd go with the 808. For me it's a more classic sound.

If we were talking a JCM800 some guys might opt for the SD-1. I'd still go for the 808.

As was mentioned, depends on the amount of gain needed. If you need more gain, the SD-1 will be the ticket. Never tried an actual 808 but lots of pedals that were on the same gain level and sometimes i wanted a tad more..

Is the 808 darker than the sd-1?

I'd go with the TS808. I think it's a more natural sounding overdrive. I think it keeps the dynamics better and has a bigger overall sound. Side by side I think the SD-1 sounds a little more processed sounding.

Ts808hw gets my vote, but I think you would be happy with the sd1 too.

I do have the SD-1 on my board and love it. A/B'ed it against lots of great pedals, except the TS808HW. Now it's haunting me
