Guitar Guitar in the UK were having a spring sale and they had Schecter C1s with 50% off....so for £250 i thought i'd give it a punt.

I was after a 24 fret hardtail full scale length, so the C1 looked like a good match.

Turns out this thing is pretty well made, it's not a Suhr but it cost literally a tenth of the price of my Modern....with a bit of a set up and a 59 thrown in the bridge it plays really well and sounds good.

I'm really pleasantly surprised by the quality of the "cheap" stuff these days, this guitar destroys the stuff that was around for £500 when i was starting to play in the early 90s.

It's a bit of a shit colour (Camo) but some stickers soon fixed that :D

pics?

actually, schecter does make some great stuff and you're right... a lot of the cheaper gear is fantastic these days. so much great stuff out there for cheap

I like Schecter's quality and I love my C-1 Classic, but I really wish they'd drop the whole cheesy 12th fret inlay (skulls, pair of aces, etc) and goofy sig models. I understand that's where their market is but it would be nice if they based a production line on their US and Japanese custom shop stuff. They look great!

Schecter is in the midst of a huge Custom Shop/US production expansion. Which, from what I've heard about it, could mean that you just might be getting your wish next year.

That was on display at winter NAMM 2011. They did one in purple for NAMM 2012, with a maple fretboard though. I didn't attend the show this year, so I only have the pic of it that Schecter sent me.

They make some very nice stuff, the setup and fretwork on my Damien Special was better straight out of the box than a lot of the big name brands come with. Was surprised at that price point how much attention to detail there was.

Had a sticker that it was inspected and setup in the USA so I guess they make them overseas and do the final setup/fret dress etc... here.
