I have the matching 2x12 cab on order, should be here Friday. I played it a bit through my mesa rectifier cab... sounded great.

Anyone know how the V30s sound in the Egnater 2x12? I'm usually not a fan of V30s, but I HAVE heard them sound good in a few different cabs (bogner, etc..)

I have this head coming and am using an Oversized cab...can't wait!

Can you go into more detail?

thanks

Congrats.

Torn between the Rebel & waiting for the Vox night train.

So the cab just came in. So far I really like it.

Here's a brain dump of random thoughts:

This is QUITE a versatile little amp for only being one channel. I'm pretty impressed at the range the EQ controls offer and the different shades of tube flavor available with the blend knob. Putting it up to 20 watts is almost insane w/ the volume up. It's SO GODDAMN LOUD for a 20 watter. Bass response is good, treble is nice and bright. I'm still undecided as to whether I like the tight switch in or out, it sounds cool both ways really. With the tight switch on you really can't be sloppy with your playing. I have noticed that with a blend of the two tubes (EL and 6V) it seems to be slightly louder when you do a perfect 50/50 mix (maybe that means they're ALL engaged?). If you do say 60/40 in either direction the volume comes down a smidge. No big deal. I haven't even got to the effects loop yet. The amp WILL do metal, quite convincingly actually. It sounds SO good for classic rock style gain too. When you have the wattage down to say 1 watt, backing off the guitar volume to get a clean sound doesn't work so well. However, when you put the wattage knob higher, you get enough headroom to accomplish this nicely. The cleans are really chimey!

I'd love to put up some clips, but in the new house i don't really have a means to do so at the moment.

Thanks for the review.

I just got mine and played it for about 30-40 minutes. To be honest, not crazy about it so far. It's got a real "distant" quality to it. Not a BAD sound, but maybe not necessarily my sound.

Need to tweak more I suppose.

I've noticed the same in certain settings. I think when the tight switch is out and you scoop the mids it's especially evident. However, with the mids back up, the treble down, and the tight switch in you can get a real convincing Dr. Z-esque kinda sound. Really cool I think!

Ah forgot to mention I realllllly do not dig the tight switch so far! Maybe it's because of the music I'm playing at the moment (heavy rock/stoner rock/metal).

Dunno man! Gonna futz with it some more and if I'm not diggin' it back to MF it goes.

Been messing around more and I think the tight switch is growing on me.

I guess I shouldn't judge the amp until I can crank it. It's LOUD!

Maybe check out one of those HT-5 heads, if you can find one. From the videos they sound like they get more aggressive for hard rock and metal than the Rebel. 2 Channels with a loop and only $299! That's a crazy price. Now wonder they're on backorder until April with Musicians Friend.

Yeah, one thing about that amp is you can't just set it the way you want, and then expect it's going to sound the same with the master volume up. You pretty much have to tweak all the knobs if you want similar sounds at lower volumes.

Thanks for suggestion Dan...I might look into one if it doesn't work out.

I've listened back to some clips I made yesterday, did some tweaking, and I'm definitely digging it more. The deadline will be this weekend when I can crank it.
