Still on the hunt for a nice mid range acoustic electric guitar. Have quite a few models on my list but the Breedlove is right at the top @599 ish. Has anyone gigged with this model/brand guitar and have any input on it's playability and pickup system?

Others on my current list are:
Takamine
EG451 Deluxe
EG530SC
EG511SC

Yamaha A1m
Epiphone Master series 500

Breedlove in the lead by far my friend. Love them, they are second only to my Taylor because I'm a fan boi. I've never "gigged" any of the models mentioned and I'm giving my opinion based on A/Bing various Breedlove instruments with lesser and MUCH MORE expensive guitars with positive results through a Bose L1 Compact PA system. The model you're talking about crushes the entry level $800 Taylor 1 series (110, 114 etc etc).

Thanks for the reply. I am a fan of Taylor as well, but I can't swing the price tag on the one I want at the moment. 314ce does it for me, but at 1600+ it's out of the picture for a while. I would be happy with the 214ce if it had the wider nut width that the 314 has, other than that one issue it's a great guitar for 999.

Well that and the fact that every time I turn around my kids need something and that's eating up my gear fund.

Glad I could help bud. The Breedlove is a lot of guitar for the money!

Well I tried out tons of guitars yesterday Martin, Taylor, Breedlove, Yamaha, Gibson, Alvarez...

The two brands that consistently felt good to play and resonated amazingly well, Takamine and Yamaha. Everything else was hit or miss. I am going to pursue a Takamine at this point. Every Takamine that I played was setup great out of the box and the price points are much more attractive than most of the other brands I tried.

I was seriously floored at how good they were.

Interesting, but when I bought mine (maybe 3 years ago), The 214and 314 had the exact same nut width. Is tha tsomething that changed recently. I have a 214 and I love it. Plays and sounds great. And, I was going to get a Breedlove but I just like the way the Taylor sounded and played better than even the higher dollar model.

Oh, and unless you find an exceptional one or get a more expensive one, you probably won't be happy with the tak. I went that route at first. Ended up with the 214CE. Plus, I got it new for 899. And I think you can do better than that at GC or MF with a 15 percent off coupon. The Taylor sounds way better plugged in and unplugged. And, there's just no comparison in quality and workmanship. The Breedlove will get you much closer to what you want for the money. Good acoustics are expensive!!!
