I've seen some videos of Brent off stage and it seems more and more he is on a slow downward spiral. I'm going to be meeting him on November 28. So anyone know what's going on? how prepared should I be as far as his drinking/substance use might be

I'd be prepared. I don't know what he's really doing and haven't heard much about his off-stage activities, but I assume that he's a bit wild.

I heard he's permanently damaged from a drunken fight he had. I think he gets dizzy a lot due to it. Could be wrong on the details...

I think I read about that. Was supposedly with some guys in System of a Down. A shame. from some interviews Ive seen he is always slurring his words...badly....

Im meeting for business/ band related reasons. So it should be interesting.

That fight happened some years ago (before Crack the Skye) and I was under the impression that the vertigo-like effects had passed a long time ago. He wrote most of CTS while recovering from that because he couldn't do very much else. Then again, I could be wrong.

My understanding was he wasn't permanently damaged from the incident, but it did really mess him up for a while.

From what I've gathered from interviews is he seems to be a free-spirited loose canon. Some of the other band members have said stuff describing him as such and that when he's in a mood they just stay out of his way   . He seems to really like his alcohol too, so I'd bet he's gets a bit wild.

I read in GW about this fight/damage. He took it hard to the head, but I've watched, seen, and heard him speak since then and never really pigeon-holed him as on a downward spinal. Then again, I don't follow up him closely nor do I have reason to.

I really hope this drug/booze/downward spiral isn't actually fact :aww:

Me too brother. Me too. I can deal with people who have mood swings but not so much with substance abusers. Fingers crossed he's in good spirits when we sit down.

I didn't gather that he's on a downward spiral either. Yeah I've seen some interviews where he was definitely toasty or talked about liking to drink, but I've seen more where he wasn't.

So are you interviewing him or something?

Bill Kelliher also's been through the spin dryer, no?? That same GW article covered Bill's realization that he was a hardcore boozer, and started showing signs of withdrawal and delerium tremens. Since then, which I think was no longer than, what, 2 or 2.5 years ago (???) he's had to give up the sauce. I'd imagine he'd have to keep Brent in line too - as one on the sauce and one spin-dryin' don't make a productive or friendly mix.

Good luck RSRD!!
