Broken Little Alligator Pedal-Anyone good with repairs?

I want to fix this thing myself and then sell it cheap.

I took it apart, and it seems to me that the red light indicator (L3 in the schematic) doesn't light as bright as the others, and the signal when the pedal is plugged in is really really quiet. Is it the indicator that needs replacing, or is it part LDR1 or LDR2 that is not functioning correctly? I also notice that when my hand touches the back of L4, which is the Green light indicator, the signal gets a little louder. I think that just may be grounding noises though.

I don't really want to waste money shipping it to Morley, or getting it repaired by a pro. I'm not all that attached to it, obviously, and I think it could be a learning experience.

check to make sure LDR1 is soldered correctly. do not leave the tip of the iron on it for longer than 2-3 seconds if it does not look right.

check L3 for loose solder - same rule applies

check the pot, use an electronic cleaner in it. make sure the connections to and from the pot are fine.

if all of this checks out and nothing works, take a wire and bypass LDR1 and see if it works.

make sure L2 is lighting properly.

I don't understand about bypassing LDR1 with a wire. L1 and L2 light very well, and the solder joints on everything look really solid. L3 lights so dimly that I had to check from many angles while unplugging the battery to figure out if it was active at all.
