Honestly, the cheap Gibson SG Specials are good. They can typically be had for cheap. I had one with an ebony board and crescent moon inlays and it ripped. I should get an SG again.

I have one of these...

As a beater, I love it. Cost me 90 pounds in a second hand shop. The necks and weight are what I love about it.

I had a gothic which is what you’re describing. I loved that guitar. It was my first sg….

I had that same model. It kicked ass.

The gibsons are honestly really cheap

but get an epiphone yungblood, idk who he is but he has an epi special style sg thats like 300 bucks

You could hunt for a Burny from Japan but their pricing is starting to get a little silly compared to a Gibson. On GC used they sometimes have an SG standard down around a 1000 or slightly less, probably because of a mistake lol but then they’ll also list Specials and Tributes as Standards and price them well over 1K. That company is a trip.
As far as a deal goes, the first thing that pops into my head is a used 400 series Viper.

Specials aren’t cheap anymore. People and stores routinely want 7-800 and more when they used to be 450 all day long. 😞
Edit….just looked on GC and cheapest was 849 and then they had some over 1K, above standards 😂

That silverburst in the classifieds keeps whispering to me…. The dirty little whore….

TBF, A gibson SG is kinda a budget guitar for an actual USA made guitar.
