You live in Hawaii, have a great band to play with, and a great rig....if you didn't come off as such a nice guy, I'd have to hate you

Just a quick question, i`m also wiring a new rack and i wanna get some Mogami cables for my pedal drawer, is there some cables that should be balanced? Or do all of them be better off mono?

Thanks,

Chris

Not "balanced" necessarily, but using TRS plugs and/XLR ends will have your Rack gear (ex. TC 2290 +12dB 1/4"-- +22dB XLR) (check your gear specs) running using maximum headroom. Pedals, on a pedal tray, not likely-- so mono plugs are fine.

OK, thanks. I`m running a G system with balanced connections, but i`m gonna use my pedals through an RJM-RG-16, i was wondering if balanced was better od not.

Perfect, thanks. I`ll be ordering some Mogami bulk cable and connectors.

Chris

None of the pedals on my pedal tray are setup balanced, but all of the rack processors are setup using XLR and TRS plugs, if that helps.

Yes it does help, i know i`m on the right track now

Does the Mogami #2319 good for lenghts of about 15 feet or is the #2524 better? I`t from the effects loop of my amp to my RG-16, wich is not more than the 15 feet i just mentioned.

Thanks for your wisdom man

The 2319 should be fine, but I would use the 2524.

If you have P-Touch lable maker-- You could do what Bradshaw did with my switcher, which is he made a label which is fitted over the top rear of the switcher which labels each loop-- I don't know why I thought to add that-- it's not imperative or anything, just that I thought it was a nice touch.

OK, i was going to go with the 2524 for the longer runs, so this confirms it.

Yeah the labels do add a nice touch. My rack won`t be as extensive as yours though, just 4-5 pedals,A Pro rack G, and RG 16 and my G system, oh and a Crown power amp for the W/D/W effect.

I build myself a nice little box to put all my rack stuff in it, on casters, and build solid enough to support my right cab and 2 heads. So my W/D/W is really equally separated. I`ll post some pics next week when everything is put together.

Where`s the best place to order the cables and connectors from? I found BTX Technologies, looks pretty solid.

Sounds like you are going to be having all kinds of tone adventures with that.

I was just watching this, and having some nostalgic flashbacks. Check it out if you haven't already seen it.

KILLER rack rigs

As far as cable and connector sources not listed on the document I posted, try Mark at Lava Cable. He has a very good reputation.

The label is indeed a nice touch!!

I just noticed the connectors he used on the looper. They are Neutriks, I have been using the same, they are cheap and easy to solder and more importantly, they are light so they don't put a big strain on the ins/outs of the looper.

EDIT: i just checked the Bradshaw-doc and he has listed them in there as well, NYS-224. Seems I have been doing everything by the BBB (Book of Bob Bradshaw)

LOTS of really cool informative guys there. Not everyone there is a total loon like me

Zach, I am going to be integrating my rack effects into my rig. I want to just use the balanced XLR in's and out's (my T.C. unit doesn't even have 1/4" jacks) I have an RJM unit on the way. I was wondering, did you have Bob wire the connections from your switcher as TS (unbalanced) to XLR? Or did he use TRS (balanced mono) to XLR going from the switcher to the effects units that feed your mixer? I'm thinking that just using TRS jacks with the RJM should be fine even though the signal is unbalanced, it is going to feed a balanced input.

Thanks.

I think I have the basics down, power one side, audio path the other. What would all of you recommend for cables?
Brands, connectors etc.???

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
