So I've never actually had a "rack" - I've got couple of pedal boards, WAY too many amps, and I have an AXE FXII rig....but Ive always fancied a Rack to mess about with in my practice room.

I'm a huge Big Country fan so I want to start the rack with an MXR M-129 Pitch transposer (and the M-131 display if I can find one) - and probably the MXR M-126 Flanger/Doubler.

I then also want some delays's - I was thinking of a Korg SDD-3000 (or a 2000) - and a TC Electronic TC 2290 - to cover the Big Country and Edge/U2 sounds etc.....

I will need a reverb - and alway fancied a Tri-Chorus to pay around with - plus maybe a Harmoniser?

I know I run a risk of buying someone else's problems - especially with vintage gear - and whilst it would be nice to buy this kit from somewhere who can provide a warranty the fact is that there's not much of it about so e-bay seems to be the only option.?

Can anyone give me any pointers or "watch outs" on any of the above kit - any thoughts on configuration and what I need ?? I'm guessing that all of this kit will run in the "loop" of my amp - so any thing I need to consider when wiring it up - I assume I can just wire it up sequentially - and then just activate the units I want running at any one time?? I read somewhere that getting the levels right can sometimes be a problem as some units run line level and some instrument?

As I say new to Racks so any thoughts and comments appreciated!

One thing to consider is levels/unity gain. Each of those units is going to vary in input/output volume so you will have to adjust each device for unity gain to make sure you are not overdriving/underdriving the next unit. Done incorrectly can add a lot of unwanted noise to your signal. I have found that any time I had more than a couple units in a rack, I need to introduce some kind of noise suppression. A Rocktron HUSH or Decimator may be in your future............

They can be a source of joy for some, and/or a source of insanity for others.

I LOVE mine (similar to your description)
