What, exactly, does the C45 mod do to the tone of an amp? I use a JCM800 reissue and was considering the BE mod, but notice that the C45 mod is pretty popular. Also curious what the BE mod do to the tone and gain of the 800... Thanks guys

I think it sweetens the tone some. I really wouldn't worry about it. Your amp will be 10x better than stock with any of Dave's mods.

If I remember correctly, the C45 Mod adds some low end and a tad more gain?

adds more of everything
Rob,What does the JBE mod add? I am still playing with the options I have on mine. Alot of tonal possibilities. Rob You were right about the tone being much more pleasing. Also, How different is the Marsha(now Friedman) compared to a modded old Marshal 100 watter? Mine is a 79 JMP.

Listening to the sound clips, to my ear, the C45 mod sounds sweet, the Brown Eye mod sounds like a killer Marshall!

I'm not very familiar with the C45 but have the BE/HBE mods to my JTM 45 . The BE is the best for me in that the bass is tight and punchy. The mids are smooth without the upper mid nastiness of the MArshall and the highs are extended and full where the Marshall is very ice picky and hard. The BE mod is an improvement in every way to a MArshall unless you like the exact sound of a stock MArshall

I've got a feeling that the C45 is an extension of the BE. Meaning you would need to get the BE first if you want the C45. For the cost I would recomend both either way. Oh the BE is smooth and raw, the C45 is smoother and less raw.
