How do these three speakers sound compared to each other? I found a pair of C90's for sale locally that I might pick up if they are worth using.

Specifically, I wanted to run a V30/K100 "X" pattern in my Diezel cab, do the C90's differ in tone enough from K100's to make them a candidate for an X pattern?

Has anyone ran a C90/V30 X pattern in a Mesa recto cab? If this is a good combo then I could just take two V30's from my recto cab and use them in my Diezel cab with the 100's.

I'll start by saying I hated K100s when I used them with my Diezel. I didn't like them by themselves or with V30s. They had a good response range, a big bottom end and stayed very tight, but just sounded dull to me. I never jived with them, though many others love them. C90s, on the other hand, are awesome, IMO. I'm using them and their predecessor, the G12-80, almost exclusively with my Herbert. Before I loaded my Mills with G12-80s, my go to cab was a Mesa Road King with C90s and V30s. They sound great together to me and I've since moved the C90s into my Mesa 2x12 to have a smaller cab that can handle the Herbert's wattage for those days I don't want to lug a 4x12 Mills cab around. If you can score a good deal on a pair of C90s, I'd definitely say go for it. I should also mention, the C90s sound just killer with my Mesa Mark III as well. I hate V30s with that amp and have favored scooped speakers like T75s with it, but the C90 really make the amp shine.

Wow, you like G12T-75's with a mark III  I have a mark IV and really dislike G12T-75's with it. I don't hate G12T-75's, just not with my mark IV. I also like Vintage 30's with my mark IV. I guess we all hear things differently.

For the OP, I would go with 2 V30's and 2 MC90's. They should mix well. Never tried K100's...

In my speaker cab I have a C90 Black Shadow and a V30 side by side. Beneath them are two EV 12M 200 watters.
I run my Mesa/Boogie MarkIV with this cab.

The C90 sounds a little thicker and darker compared to the V30. Very full, roaring, punching. Crunchy but more darker. The V30 has a more upper-mid voiced aggressive crunch sound, although still does have that tight chugging low end. I used to love the V30 but now actually prefer the Black Shadow. If anything the Black Shadow is similar to the EV 12M rather than the V30. But overall both sound great when mixed.

I have not tried K100s personally. But I did hear some speaker tests and to me it sounded a little mid-scooped. Sort of like a more refined version of a G12T75. I didn't like the 75 with my MarkIV but it does work well with other amps or when mixed with a V30.

I considered doing an X pattern with v30's and c90's....and all the feedback online i got said that c90's do better in an open back cab, and dont color sound as much, and that the v30's are better sealed, and do color tone. I love what my v30's do to my Roadster head, but don't get the recto cab. Get the Traditional/Stiletto cab, its slightly smaller but sooo much tighter feeling. There's really no drawback to it, simply because the Stiletto came out later and seems designed a bit better

I've got a traditional with Mesa V30s too. Just awesome! I wasn't too fond of the K100 but mixed I like it a lot!
