CAA OD50

It depends on what model you get. There are different models with different tubes/transformers diferent amounts of gain etc etc.

Id hit up John Suhr on the huge racks forum and tell him what you are looking for and he more then likely will point you in the right direction.

I tried a 50 watter but it was modified and had more gain then VH and way more lower mids the the EVH tone.

I would definitely go the Roccaforte or Mojave route before the CAE. Those amps can come close to nailing VH right out of the box. The gain on the CAE has this weridness going on that you just can't dial out...
 
I had a Standard and it had enough gain for VH I & II. There is the Standard + that has even more gain. I currently have an SE+ and I can get that VH sound with the gain on 6. Are you looking for the amount of gain or type of gain. If it is the amount of gain, the answer is yes. You can also have it modded by Suhr, and ask for that EVH sound specifically. No matter who you are, his customer service is second to none.
