I have a Marsha on order and I'm looking for another cab to pair with it. This will be my classic rock/hard rock/80's metal set up. I do play modern metal but this rig won't be used for that most of the time. I would like something that can do the modern metal thing though if needed. Right now I have a Bogner OS 2x12 (V30's) that I'm planning on using with it and I'm also considering....

another Bogner OS 2x12 (V30's or maybe some Scumbacks)
Bogner 4x12 (V30's)
Scumback 4x12 (M75's or M75/H75 combo)
Mills Afterburner or Classic 4x12 (V30/CL80)

Yeah I like V30's.

I'm not big on the K100, T75 or H30 with V30's either. What do you think?

Mine sounds great with EVM12L's in a closed back cab

Mills Straight 412 AB with 2V30's and 2CL80's. Mills 212 Extension with EV BL's. Both wired 16 ohm. This kicks all kind of ass.

That looks great and I bet it sounds even better.

Can you compare the V30/CL80 combo to the V30/T75, H30 or K100 combo? Thanks!

I won't say I've played a ton of speakers, but Scumbacks are my favorite by far.

I've been playing my KS Marshall through a Mojo 2x12 with two M75s (awesome) and I just switched out one M75 for an H75 (also awesome).

The M75/H75 combo really tightened up the bass and I think it works better in the 2x12, especially for higher gain.

Yep, Scumbacks are great too. The Marsha has a good bit of punch and bottom too it, but not over done. It definitely is bright too when you twist the presence and treble. You need a speaker combination that accents it. You wouldn't want anything too honky and you don't want something with too much headroom.

I have a quad of Scum M75's and am waiting on a quad of H75's to mix in a cab. The Scumbacks add a lot of depth to the tone.

I don't think the K100's are right. They have too much head room and to me sound like ass anyway and are lifeless. I was actually going to use a V30/T75 combo like the Ubercab and this would probably sound great. H30s will sound more vintage, but good. They should break up nice. May sound a little nasally though. Not sure.

Thanks for the info. I REALLY want to try some Scumbacks and the M75/H75 combo is probably what I'd go for.

Cool. Thanks for the info. I've never tried CL80's but from reading reviews and comments they sound like they probably match up good with the V30's.

I hadn't even thought about the 80's yet, but they go real well with V30's. Several of the guys around here, especially the Cameron crowd  swear by them. I was ordering my last two cabs from Dave Mills and he came with the same recommendation and also recommended the EV BL's in the 212. They were all spot on. So, 80's/30's it is. Having said all that, it is what your tonal intent is, especially with what you want the mids to be doing. I like to keep mine scooped on any amp, and have some thunderous bottom end and grind. So, it is easy with me. The best thing to do and what I did is to experiment. If you got a little extra change in the couch cushions, head of to Warehouse Speakers (www.warehousespeakers.com) and grab you a Veteran 30, and HM75 and a Green Beret, which are all US built replicas of Celestion China T75's, V30's and Greenbacks and start experimenting.

Then there are Scumbacks. They aren't for everyone, but they sound great. There's a lot of depth to those speakers. I have only tried the M75's but have some H75's on order. They are damn expensive to buy and try though.

Thanks for the info. The only speakers out of the ones mentioned above I've yet to try are the Scumbacks and CL80's.
