Cabinet Dilemma

I recently played a PS 212 and it was righteous as hell. One of the best sounding cabs I have ever heard.

That being said, I love my Fryette 412 cabs, they have a very focused, tight, and balanced tone, especially since I switched to V30s in them. Plus they are built like tanks. I also have a Splawn 212 that sounds awesome. I really like that cab, too.

So, I guess I am no help.

My favorite 2x12s right now are Orange, Bogner OS and a PRS, but what amp(s) are you plugging into it??
Sorry, My dumb-ass missed that!, From the cabs I mentioned, and the desription you mentioned, I would pick the Orange, I hear the PortCity stuff is great, but never tried one.

I've owned just about every 2x12 imaginable. My favorites are the Orange PPC212, Splawn Standard 2x12, Engl Pro 2x12, and a Lopoline Signature 2x12 (cheap too). I didn't like the VHT FB (even with Celestions) or the Port City at all.

You really can't go wrong with the Orange. And I would NOT recommend skimping and getting the Avatar Contemporary. The interior construction is almost identical: however, there is a big difference in tone. The Orange is much warmer and less spiky with the same speakers.

FWIW, I've also owned G-Flex, Ear Candy, Bogner OS, Mojotone, and Mesa Recto 2x12's for comparison.

I'm also considering selling my avatar vintage 4x12...simply no need for it and to be honest, I don't know if it is a construction thing, but when i have the presence up to where I want it, those piercing highs can make their way through and I've questioned whether or not this is the cabs dimensions or if this is common. (the "vintage" is oversized). One of you mentioned not to go cheap and get the Avatar.. what makes these so different then say the Splawn?? I mean the contemporary Avatar with the marshall grill, would it not be made in similar fashion? I mean we are talking measurements, tolex, and plywood. Would the Splawns and Avatars be that far off? We've got a company called Voltage cabs (pretty much the Avatar equivalent and used to sell Avatar before goign their own direction) here in Canada and i wonder whether trying to order from Splawn would be worth the headache of additional fees..

The two im most interested in are a Fryette deliverance or the Port OS 2x12.
Im a bit worried about the Fryette since i was looking on the sevenstring forum and some guys said they liked their mesas with rear loaded cabs opposed to the front loaded fryette. Also, the fryettes come with the p50e's which were apparently voiced for Fryette amps.

I hate making decisions!

which amp will you use with the cab?
I'M asking this because I own a mesa recto 2x12 cab and I think it is a really nice cab but it was lacking something untill I've put a 1x12 EVM12L on top of it

it's the best speaker combo I've ever used. Nice bottom end from the v30s in the recto 2x12 and nice high and notes separtions from the EVM12L

Maybe, you should have tried a speakers swap before selling it heh :X

I am sure that with the options given here there won’t be any problem deciding on which 2x12 cab that he wants to buy to the one he sold!! I think there’s something just about all the 2x12 cabs that are available now along with their plus and minus points as well!!
