I'm working on a local trade, my rear loaded diezel 4x12 for an orange 4x12 with blackbacks. I just worked out a trade for a jvm for my ace and I think the type of amps I prefer match up better with a greenback type speaker as opposed to the v30's in my diezel. My diezel has a small tear in the tolex and a few scuffs from being loaded in and out of vans, trucks, etc. He is describing to be in slightly worse shape but not by much, I'm waiting on pics. My question is does this seem like an even trade? I feel my cab is worth about 650-700. How about the orange? Any help is appreciated I feel I would really like the orange I just don't want to take a hit on values.

Why dont you just swap the speakers for greenback types? Do you dislike the diezel cab?

Don't get me wrong the oranges sound fine also.

I was considering that, but I would have to find someone wanting to trade for the speakers I have, potentially pay shipping etc. Just thought it would be easier to find someone locally to trade with. I do really like the cab itself though, built really solid, can run stereo and adds a good thump.

Given that you already like the cab and there is no guarantee youll like the orange, unless you already played it id say swap first. Obviously you'll have to pay shipping. Tons of guys here swap speakers.

Good luck either way.

I have a set of greenbacks in my Orange and I think it's a nice match.

I say go an alternative route, and get a Port City Wave 212 (not the OS).

Best cabs out there.

As long as your not moving it, the Orange cabs are awesome...Wouldnt trade mine for anything else available. Well worn in V30's.....

The diezel is heavy as hell too, ask me how I know lol. The v30's are super well worn in on my cab, I just think I want a change. I gravitate towards Marshally amps that usually have some prominent upper mids. I feel like the v30 while a great speaker isn't the best match to that voicing, it's like an overkill of upper mids lol. Really cuts live though.

I did that "trade" (in fact, I sold the Orange to my bandmate and got the Diezel). What can I say? A much better fit for the Einstein (when I had it) and naturally for the Schmidt too. My new 20th Shiva sounds amazing through it as well! Anyway, I've always found that the construction of the Orange cab and the Diezel voicing are not a good match. Use an amp with much high-mid emphasis and the Orange can play out its trump. Just my opinion, of course.

Since OP has said somewhere that he is gravitating towards high-middy Marshally amps...well, the Orange might just be a good match! I disliked the directionality, and the other guitarists has to turn down all the bass, since there's plenty of that to be had from the Orange. The Diezel cab is much tighter and has less of a woolly/woody but a more open/tighter character. Again, to my ears.

I agree with this. With a higher mid amp the cab sounds warm and balanced. With a low mid amp the cab sounds muddy.
