Can someone explain to me what the JBE mod is all about?

I just sent my amp (1959SLP) out to dave a couple of days ago, to have the KS mod, and the Fat & Sat Switches, and the Hi end contour Switch. Can the JBE be added to this? or are the mods Im having done good enough. What does JBE stand for? I dont know all of the mods dave performs, and I just came across the JBE and was curious to know. Thanks

It's the "Jerry Cantrell" mod. I have it on my amp and it's kind of like a tweaked version of the Saturation switch. Actually I'm pretty sure that the Saturation mod is part of the JBE mod except that the JBE mod is voiced with more highs and lows/more modern sounding.

It can be added. It's an extra voicing switch that works with the Brown Eye and Sat on. It'll work on the HBE but not intended for it

hmmm.... I suppose I should contact Rob/Dave at some point about the JBE on my Marsha because it doesn't do anything. I've made sure the Sat switch is engaged and on the BE input, but I hear absolutely no difference whatsoever in sound/tone with it engaged vs not engaged. I just figured something was missed in wiring it up, OR, my ears are pretty sad (which I sincerely doubt) but mostly the amps sounds so good on its own plus with the Fat, Sat, and C45 mods that I had no reason to complain! :-)

That's possible. The JBE is wired into the amp's nfb loop. I would think you amp would be hollaring if anything was wrong with the mod. What settings are you using? I remember with mine I could hear distinct changes in the preamp hiss when listening with no guitar. If you hear a change when you flick the switch it's probably functioning fine. The JBE switch should be in the up position on Brown Eye input with sat engaged.

I know the brown eye skips the first (hairy) gain stage
if the JBE it's wired in the nfb only, then it should work with any preamp channel/mode

It does. Dave said he designed the voicing to work with the BE channel but it still works with the HBE.

I've tried it with both inputs, but know/knew that it was designed for use on BE w/ Sat, so that's how I tried to use it. In any case, I hear nothing at all. Not a pop when the switch is engaged (up), no change in sound, no change in hiss, nothing. Just seems like the switch is there but not wired up to anything.
