Can someone post some decent sounding 20th XTC clips?

All the clips I heard were overly trebly and sounded rather thin (no bass punch). Probably it's one of those amps that feel great to play with a certain tone that doesn't record so well.

Can someone do some 20th XTC clips that sound more balanced than what is flying around in the web?

What about the one from the James Lugo shootout? I thought that was a pretty good clip.

I thought a lot of those clips sounded the same. I think when you get that many amps together without taking the time to meticulously go through each to get the best sound, you don't get a sense of what each can really do.

I never got good bass out of any XTC Ive owned til I put in teh SED el tehrtey fourz

Hunter- Cali68 has some decent YT clips up, although you may have to dig for them. I've spent some time with his 20th Anni XTC . The amp does have more gain on tap and is voiced with slightly more upper mids than a regular 101B, but thin it aint!

I just bought the 20th ann. from Cali68 and you are correct "thin it aint"
This is XTC number 4 for me. Still tweaking it a little and trying some diff. preamp tubes, but is a great amp.

Oh I'm surprised Cali sold his. I know his clips and he posted a lot of stuff around about how great the amp was.

So what's he got now instead?

I'm pretty sure he still has his Metro JTM and Victoria. He told me that the XTC was just way more amp than he needed and had his eye on something else. I would have bought it if I could have, but times are tough. Plus I just ordered a Titan!

The 20th is the farthest thing from thin...definately thicker than my old 101b, but with more bite. I find it more organic and lively than the 101b as well. I can get some insane overtones and controlled feedback with the Motor City 2nd Degree Black Belt's in my LP Custom. I can't help but grin every time I play the amp...I'll try and record something one of these days...

How much do they 20th anniversaries go for these days?

Perfectly stated

I just posted this same clip in the "Bogner clips" thread, but since it's relevant to this topic, here it is again.

If you go to around 1:42, the audio you'll hear is the studio recording. The signal chain was as follows:
XTC > Bogner Standard 4x12 cabinet (v30's) > Shure SM57 > UA 610 Mic Pre > Digidesign HD192

I finally registered here! I sold the 20th to get a Metro 12,000 I loved the 20th but once I heard the 12,000 in person that did it. Pocketing an extra grand was nice too! ...like Bill said the 20th was just way more than I needed in terms of options and stuff. I'll say this, the Plexi mode of the 20th is some of the best tone I have ever heard out of any amp...if Bogner made a head that was just the plexi mode I would buy it in a heartbeat.

..and Bill, "decent" clips? Thanks for the ringing endorsement!
