Can you replace a LFT Lo Pro with a Gotoh standard?

So I'm not happy with the Licensed Floyd Rose Lo Pro on my LTD, firstly because it won't stay in tune sometimes and takes a while to set up, secondly because the saddles wore down and I had to replace them, and now the problem I fear is starting to happen again (user error I think) but more to the point, I love this guitar and I'd much rather have a better, high quallity bridge that I can depend on.

I measured the bridge, they both come to 74mm from centre post - centre post. But I'm not sure if they will fit in the other dimentions, especially as the LFR is a lo pro and the Gotoh is a standard.

I'd like to buy an EVH D-tuna and I prefer the standard to low profile floyds.

I remember gotoh as not being a "high quality" bridge replacement?

mediocre at best, I would try to find a old German made Schaller, those were low pro if I remember correctly...

It`s also easier to find OFR and Schaller measurements concerning the "lenght" of the tremolo. Gotoh provides the widht only in the pic I posted.

Suhr uses Gotohs, so the quality should be fine, I guess :)

I just remember Floyd made in Germany or Schaller made in Germany being the best and Gotoh was one of the lower models not saying they were bad.

Are Floyds still made in Germany or is it all Gotoh now that does the main production for Floyd?

Gotohs are now made in Japan, it seems, dunno about the main production.
Schallers are MIG, and twice the price :D

OFR low pro and Schaller are both about twice as much as I would buy a Gotoh for..

I don't NEED ultimate quallity, I just need one that will fit and is a few steps above the shit chinese £49 ones.

If I assemble the bridge, and it doesn't fit.. could I send it back and have it refunded?..

Thanks alot man,

all the measurements listed are consistant for my floyd, but is that the standard or Low Pro? It looks like a standard, just being sure.

I`m not sure, but of you follow the link under the pic, you should be able to have a look at it. I can`t tell the difference.

It's the standard.

I've checked all the measurements, the only one that doesn't fit is that my baseplate from side to side is ~93mm rather than the 91.5mm on the gotoh, but I guess aslong as the replacement isn't too big it should be fine.

Do you think I'd be able to return it if it didn't fit? I can't be bothered with the hastle of selling it, plus I'll loose money.

There are loads of music shops in Denmark Street in London, try giving a few a call.. It IS a used item after you install it. The only thing is maybe order one, and hold it over the guitar to see if it fits lenght-wise.

As long as the screws to fasten the strings don`t touch the rear of the cavity, you should be okay
