Can you use a Bogner 101B XTC head w/a 100 watt Marshall cab without blowing something ?

EVH 4x12's are technically 80 watts. Their heads are 100. Go figure.

Now, they may call it a 100 watt cab, but under the same breath, rate the speakers 20 watts. Last time I checked, 20 x 4 = 80.

To be safe I would run 2 cabs. I did run my 72 SuperTrem through the 72 Pulsonic cab very briefly to hear it alone but for like 10 seconds…didn’t blow anything but since then I’ve either run it with my G12 65 cab alone or together with the 72 cab. I’d be on the safe side with vintage speakers. With modern GBs, well you can always buy more.

I ran a 120 JSX into my 100 watt Greenback cab, no problem. I can't imagine needing to even get remotely loud enough to cause damage. Gigging volume is what, 4?
It’s not about need my friend. It’s about what crushing volume does to those poor crying Celestions…pushing a tube amp/speaker cab to its limits is a beautiful thing. If only for a short time anyway.
