CAPTOR X - is there a way to switch off the speaker out?

I am planning to make a patchboard for my amps and cabs. I would treat the captor X as an extra cabinet.
(I will use a combination of jack ins and speakon connections on the patchboard, the idea is the amps go into a speakon connector and the cabs to a jack in).
So it will be very hard to make a mistake. If a cable is hanging loose an amp is not connected so I need to plug it in.
Anyways, the problem:

If I want to attenuate an amp but still hear it thru the cab. I need to plug it into the captor x. But that means fiddling behind. The unit has allready usb, two xlr's power and one speaker in connected. Its hard to and possible prone to error to reach behind and pull something out or in a hole on the feel.

Can I use a trs cable for this? The idea is that when there is no mono plug inserted the captor x thinks it is not connected. But that can only work if two notes is using a trs jack and not a switched jack.

The question is can it be done without fiddling on the back.

THx
