I was just checking this out online and it seems like a great amp at an amazing price ($899 right now).

Does anyone have any actual experience with this amp? Or links to reviews? I'm very curious.

Not yet, but ive been looking at it also. Adjustable bias, half power, and 15 watt power.. extra boost for 3rd channel gain.. under a grand is very tempting to me !!! Or the 5150 III 50 watt ....

Yeah... the 5150 III looks good too. To me (based on internet demos), the Legacy seems better suited to classic rock and "non-shredder" hard rock tones. The 5150 seems a little more suited to players that are into the shredder/Mesa DR type sound -- in Carvin terms, more like the V3 type sound. What do you think?

I'd Love to play the L3. No one seems to have crap for clips yet, even though a bunch of guys have them on the Carvin Forums.

I posted a thread on this very topic just yesterday and did not get much response either, except for a guy that returned his the same day he got it cause he did not like the crunch but otherwise said it was nice amp. I suppose the lack of response is associated with the few owners and the fact that they are basically brand new...Another reason would be it seems that if you don't have a thousand posts here you don't get much response at all. On the flipside if you have a ton of posts on here you will get lots of response and opinions. I really like this place but this is the way it is.

Dood, I usually have to bribe forumites with promises of top notch amps or naked woman to come and check out my clips. hahaha

Just got mine today has great channels and the gain structure is better than the last.. Boost is great but the chinese 12ax7 make it kinda boxy but I did buy a small 112 for it.. Im keepin it for gigging. Reverb isnt switchable but I DONT CARE:)

Dude, I've seen the same kinda thing on here......but, I honestly do not think your thread applied to this type of reasoning this time around. I just think the Legacy III is still so much of an "UNKNOWN" that the jury is still out. Not too many have played through one yet and there are so many more that are waiting to get the goods on it through reviews and clips...me being one of them. It shouldn't be too much longer before clips begin to pop up.

Is the boost a gain or a volume boost? Does it work on all 3 channels?

i think i read a 10 page thread on the hri forum or was it the gear page about this amp
seems like most dudes approved

So how did they get these to only weigh 29 lbs. Is it the lack of wood headshell or are the transformers just that small? Tell us more just42dave. What amps is it similiar in tone to?

I think the smaller style and no wood. The boost works as a volume or solo boost. 2/3 channels almost the same structure as the gain switch on ch3 will go over thetop. Mind you this sounds like a legacy but better it doesnt have that mid freq like a cameron lol. More lower weid mid bogner tone. And the reverb is a good digital so that kills weight far beyond the egnater digital reverb. And mine is regular tan color no pukey green..

Friendly bump to this thread.

How I would love to walk into a club with an amp and effects, all loaded into one rack.
