Hey, I have an opportunity to buy a Carvin Legacy head for 350$. I don't know this head very much. I know that Vai used it but couldn't find very much good test of it on youtube. I would like to hear the good and de bad that user have tested with it. What kind of clean and dirt sound would you compare it to etc......

Thanks

Great clean. Gain side was meh, to me. One of the regular posters here has a pretty nice clip of one though. I never could get it to sound like that.

Don't remember his name? Would be interested to hear it!

Great amp. Loved the cleans and gain channel. With an OD, it does so much. I owned one and regret not having it.

HI

I loved mine, it was one of the best 2 channel amps for the money I had. I sold it, stupid me!! I want another one.. if you don't want it let me and I might be interested in it.

I don't remember for sure. Daneyo maybe? Not sure.

I was in a band once with a guy who played one. Clean was good, solo tone was cool, but I thought it was muddy for rhythm. Underwhelmed is a good word to describe the tone.

I agree with you. Ivan's clip captures that lead tone.

Nice clip Ivan. Is that all amp or do you have something in front?

myspace? Was this recorded in 1990?

I had one for a little while a few years ago. Very nice clean channel that stayed clean even very loud. The gain channel was great IMO for lead playing. I didn't like it for riffing though. Not the right tool for the job I was doing. Gain knob past 6 just gets kind of muddy. I didn't try it with a boost.

heres a song using the Carvin Legacy for all guitars

Listen Here

Its really not a tight amp, its very low-mids and loose sounding, perfect for lead soloing stuff.

I have a lot of Legacy clips on my youtube channel. edguyrocks is my tagger name on youtube.

No boost, all amp in that clip. I liked the cleans and the leads. Needs a boost or something to tighten up the tone for riffage IMO.

My other guitar player rocks one through the matching front loaded V30 cab and it's not muddy at all. Sounds huge and focused. But it needs alot of volume to get that sound.....and it's a LOUD mofo.
