does any one have any experience/knowledge on the Carvin TS 100? ...obviously we get what we pay for ...but its nice to get more

I owned one , they are very clean as in hifi sounding for a tube power amp.
The older Carvin T100 power amp is slightly more musical for guitar rigs imho.
Also they don't sound as loud as other 100w tube power amps I've owned like Mesa etc. , I think Carvin over rates their power output some.
Other than that it is a nice clean power for the money .

There can't be "over rating" in tube power amps. It's not dependent from the ohms of the cab or anything also. A power tube can put out what it's specs show.

The only "reason" to make you think it's less than 100 watts, is, lower plate voltage by design, under designed (for the circuit) output transformer.

Or, it sometimes is relevant to the guitar frequencies in general...if the carvin is more hi-fi as pointed it'll seem less "loud" by not pushing mids and pushing more bass (rolled-off in many amps) frequencies.

Vai uses TS-100 (one or two) for his 4x12 stereo on stage cabs.

no experience personally but I hear good things. Again, pretty hi-fi if that's what you want. Some audiophiles use them for home stereo. I didn't like the way it was 50W stereo or 100W if you ran it mono (if I recall correctly) so I passed

Technically you may be correct , but side by side to other tube power amps like a Mesa , VHT , etc , they seem to be slacking in output . My guess is the under powered OT they use , i have retubed many of them and it does'nt make a difference in output , just tone .
Does'nt mean they are not built well , but Carvin always seems to cut corners in certain areas to save money to keep the cost down and affordable .

thinking mesa boogie 20/20 ...I would rather have tone than volume ...from what read they are pretty darn loud anyways
