Hi all im new here
I am currently running a randall rm 100 and rm50 and i am looking at a carvin v3 does anyone have experience with this amp, I play mostly metal and harder rock and from the youtube videos ive watched about the v3 it sounds like a very good amp for my style. But i am a little cautious as i quite enjoy having 8+ different Jaded Faith Custom modules for my RM's. I am slightly concerned about gigging with the rm's as i have heard horror stories of break downs and unreliability.

First off welcome to the forum. here's my advice on the V3....be prepared for fizzy tone with that carvin. I had it and it would go muffled to beehive by moving the presence or treble ever so slightly it is hard to get in between that. you could help it by getting some better tubes than those groove tubes in it. I think 6l6's would sound better in it and you should bias it warmer cause carvin sends it out biased pretty cold. and also cranking the master and using channel volume to taste. it's not that great of amp tonewise. but i think it's pretty cool technology wise. but that's about it. i think you'd be better off with looking at something else or keeping the randall.

I have the V3 halfstack and I always get confused by the "fizzy" comments???? Maybe I received a good one????

I've had mine for 4-5 years and I always get compliments on the guitar tone. My band did a benefit show a couple weeks ago and the owner came up after the set and said "...man, I've heard 100's of bands in here, but you guys have the best guitar tone's of any band I've ever heard". Our rhythm guitarist is using an Orange half stack.

You do need to run the Master Volume up high and control you overall by each channel volume.

Hope this helps, Bodie

If you do go with a Carvin V3, look for one used. Carvin gear in general is a great deal on the used market.

Yeah i was looking at a 100 watt head for $499 at guitar centers website... I am probably going to get an RM4 and run a rack though which would negate the need for the v3
