ok,

Since finding the original g12-65s with the 1777 cones is rather difficult, or expensive, how about those reissues?

Do they stand up against the originals?

I have tested the G12M Heritage and it was AWFUL!!
I like the G12H Heritage though, not amazing but pretty nice...

How about the G12-65 Heritage?

Thanks in advance

The originals can vary sooo much its hard to compare...even 65s with the 3120 designation(1777 cones) can be different. I have a 79 Marshall labeled 65 cab, sounds killer. I snagged an 83 cab with celestion labeled 65s, sounds darker. Both have 1777 cones, 3120 code. They say 65s had like 30 variations? Guys that have the newer ones seem to like them....they do pop up on eBay from time to time....

Coincidentally I've just put a '79 and a Heritage (both 8 ohms wired in series) next to each other in a 2x12 cab. The older one seems a tad less loud and maybe a hair smoother. Otherwise no discernible difference (to my big surprise).

I think the Heritage reissues are great. I tried 2 old Marshall cabs with originals years ago and years apart. One was great and the other not good at all. No idea which versions the old speakers were but you can't go wrong with the reissues IMO.

I have two of the reissues in a 1960A cab alongside two G12T75s. I love mine. Very smooth and buttery but not overly mid heavy. They filled out some of the holes my sound that the T75s could not do and balance nicely with them. On their own I can only believe they'd only be fantastic.

The Heritage G12-65 I bought sounds great, I was surprised how good it sounds and very pleased with mine and I still am. FWIW I also think the Warehouse ET65 sounds great too if price is an issue I really like the ET65's now that they are broken in.
