has anybody heard the new g12 creambacks? im a green back guy currently i have the new lynchbacks they sound great but just curios to know how the new creambacks sound.

The Celestion Creambacks have not been released yet that I have seen. The Creamback name just has a bad ring to it.

well i guess i'll just stick to the lynchbacks. they sound amazing i like them better than v30s. would like to hear other people opinions good or bad don't care

How do the lynchbacks compare to v30s or greenbacks ? Do you have other speakers to A\B ?

well i have alwalys like how the top is kind of attenuated on the greenbacks and the amount of midrange they have also they sound more compact tight more put togheter. the vintage 30 its kind of hard to describe the top, alot of people say they sound fizzy, they produce a bigger sound i know that but they don't have that rich midrange that i like on a greenback vintage30 is a modern speaker also they are 60watts ill never be able to push that speaker. the lynchback is the closes thing i heard of a 25watt greenback it sounds a little more smother but still retains that midrange spike and for me and the kind of music i play classic hard rock works the best

I like the Lynchback but I would like them to have a bit more low end. Right now I am using WGS Invaders and they are the best high wattage Greenback I have ever heard! I would like to try a Celestion Lynchback combined with a Creamback!

If you want a comparison of Lynchbacks, V30 and Greenbacks look at this thread.

Me and a friend of mine recorded this clips, i play the 80s one. My cab was the lynchback loaded Zilla.

I love the Lynchbacks. listen for yourself.

(Disclaimer: The 80s G12M clip had some tuning issues with the low E (old strings) but its good enough to get the idea)

Where are the clips?

Save for a completely horrible handle, I too am pretty intrigued by these "creambacks". I'm staying tuned

Any other thoughts on the Lynch? I hear nothing but killer reviews. One guy told me they are like warmer and darker Greenbacks. I am ordering one Lynchback and one Creamback most likely for my Stone Age 212C.

  Jagger was in London past weekend, but I didn't meet him.

From Celestion...

The Creamback has ‘vintage’ attributes so may become a little unrefined with hard rock. Obviously great with rock though they don’t like an excess of gain. I’d be tempted to pair the Lynchback with a G12-65 Heritage for a good deep clean bottom end sound with a full though not shouty midband and well rounded top from the 65 and grit and sparkle from the Lynchback. The Lynchback and Creamback would be a good match though and more similar at the top end but would suffer a bit when pushed. All speakers work ok in open, semi open or closed configurations, they all sound different though and you need to choose which one sounds the best to you.

I haven't heard the Lynchbacks or Creambacks yet, so I can't comment on those. I would like to, soon. But I just wanted to bring up another speaker that is worth serious consideration, as they seem to fit with what these are trying to do. The Weber Legacy series. They are the same speakers that used to be sold as Scumbacks. You can get them in different magnet sizes, wattage, and cone style.

I have 65w Legacies with 30oz magnets and british dustcaps. They are my favorite speakers. Smokey, raunchy, textured mids like a good old greenback, but with more power and holds together at higher volumes and gain levels. Very responsive, too. They cost $120 directly from Weber.

I've definitely been interested in these speakers you speak of but but have read on forums more than once from Jim at Scumback that they are not the same. What exactly happened between Weber and Scumback that they parted ways and Scumback began manufacturing them themselves.

I see this come up a lot. I don't know. And honestly, I don't really care. I've had Weber speakers for a while now. 12Vs, Silverbells, Bluedogs, & Legacies. A handful of friends have owned them for a while as well. Haven't heard of, or had, an issue. I own, and have owned, many other speakers. All of these Weber speakers are great.

That matters way more to me than what a disgruntled reseller says. Especially when it's not in that person's best interests that the Weber Legacies are well-regarded.

I'll second that.. I have one and regardless of the weber/scumback history, for all intensive purposes, I just assumed these two speakers were close enough spec wise. I like mine too. My secret plan however, is to get a 2 x 12 and a lynchback and BAM, best of all worlds.

The Vintage 30s in my Bogner sound AMAZING! Thick and responsive. However, I want some speakers...equally good but more vintage.....like a cross between modern and Greenback...

I use Marshall style amps, Bogner and PWE and am looking for a speaker that is vintage vs modern. My other big cab is a Bogner 212 with Vintage 30s and it kills. Since I tend to use warm, organic sounding amps I am afraid to go with the new Celestion Creambacks plus they are $170 a piece. I just need to know if the Lynchbacks are harsh at all or lack low end? Basically I am looking for vintage meets modern that will handle clean to classic crunch to 90s hard rock and modern. But different from my Bogner 212 with Vintage 30s and my THD with G12K-100s. I was thinking of the Lynchbacks for my Stone Age 212C.

Weber Legacies are my favorite speaker. I have 6 of them......and 2 more on order!

Which options did you go with on yours? Are they all the same? Mine are 65w w/30oz magnets. I just ordered another two the same way, except with 40oz magnets.
They mix really well with 50w Silverbells, by the way.
