Who has opinions on these 50uf/500 VDC axial capacitors? Are there better alternatives?

Tough to go wrong with sprauge.
JJ and F&T make quality stuff too

There is no mojo in electrolytics, you just want ones that are reliable
Do you think there's value in having your vintage amp re-capped with period correct caps ?

Me personally, I do not. Electrolytics are just there to keep the power flowing smoothly.

I’m sure an argument can be made for NOS blocking caps, but I’d be hard pressed myself to notice a difference between them and quality current production stuff.

I can't argue for or against this since I don't really know, but when I had Don Butler do a cap job on my Brown Deluxe he used period correct caps and sent the old ones back with it in a baggie.

You could make the same argument for trannies I suppose. But I can tell you that my amp with the original is worth a few grand, with a Mercury Magnetics it's worth about $500.

Bro...

Im not gonna call bullshit on him, but they kinda either work or they don’t. Who knows what liberties the tech took who replaced them too

Did you see Larry's comment tho?
Ok I read the comment and I dunno man lol.
I’m just a hack compared to a lot of guys, but I’d be shocked if any of our guitar heroes were worried about the quality of their ripple.
