Channel Lag on the older Rectifiers

There are 2 types of lag common with the older rectos. 1 is an actaul delay of the ch switching with a slight mute of signal inbetween. I know Ive seen a mod for this. Cant seem to find it anywhere right now. the 2nd type of lag is when the ch you switch to fades in. This is an LDR issue.

Mine mutes the signal for a second or 2 after switching channels. No fade-in, just no signal, and then it switches channels.

Switching problems are VERY common with mesa. My Tverb is all kinds of fucked up. Major LDR issues. Im going to send it to the factory one of these days. It still works fine of the Red ch though.

What type of problems do you have? And does your trem o verb on the orange channel, does the vintage high gain get louder switching from thr clean mode, or does the vintage get softer switching from clean mode?

gets softer.

The trem with fade out. The loop will fade out. And the orange ch will fade out and cut out. No matter what variac or rectifier setting. Nothing seems to bother the red ch in modern. The vintage gain cloned is very goofy too. Sometimes the vol is very low.

Hm. I wonder what it will cost to get it fixed. I have literally no money.

I think mesa replaces LDR's for free. You should call them. They will tell you everything.

I plan on calling them on Monday. I need a new handle, and the amp could use a once over and all the pots cleaned. I wonder if they would install a Bias Select switch while they're at it...hmm....

Yeah. Maybe ask them to clean up the headshell and make it shiny, so it may get it a better resale value.

I was thinking about doing something to it. Sand it down and gloss it, or just re-tolex it. It does look cool as it is though.

I believe the switching lag you're talking about an issue that's specific to the Single Recto. I could be wrong (not an expert on this), but I don't think the Singles have LDRs and the LDR problems are a 2 channel Dual/Triple/T-Verb thing (Mesa got a bad batch in the mid to late 90s, but no one knew until they started failing years later... which is why Mesa replaces (replaced?) them for free).

What I think they did (again, not an expert) with the single Recto is they tried to eliminate the channel change pop by inserting a slight signal dropout. The 3 channels don't have the dropout, but they have a pop when switching channels. I've heard there's fixes to reduce the delay but they don't eliminate it. It's one of the reasons why Single Recto dudes tend to switch to Dual Rectos after awhile.

If you go over to the Boogie forum try doing a search on Single Recto switching lag, maybe you'll turn up some useful information.

Dont take it to flores in peoria. Theyll replace your tube without asking and anything else they can stick on the bill

Oh yeah, I'm not a fan of Flores.

It will 'prolly be expensive, but I'm just going to send it into Mesa and have them do it. See if they can fix the channel lag issue, put a new handle on it, and give it a full checkup. Get it back up to working spec. I know it could use some work. Something wrong with the bass pot on the clean channel. Works fine up to about 3 o'clock. Anything after that, the bass completely drops out to nothing.

Hows that Angry Beaver workin for ya?

I'm digging it so far. It gets kinda washed out when I use it on top of my usual lead channel settings. Kinda sounds like there's a blanket draped over my cab. But If i switch over to vintage mode and lower the gain a bit, the pedal really comes to life.

Ah, youre blending it with the amp. Try it on a dirty clean tone and krank the pedal. Its nasty
