These old pointy headstock guys look like good rippers, prices can very from 900-1300 on Ebay. How are they? The ones with the khaler locking trems, are they legit or overpriced garbage? School me. I only know the value of the newer Charvel stuff.

Awesome guitars on the whole, but over-priced for what it’s worth unless they’re in damn near perfect condition, and the Kahler “Floyds” were not the greatest.

I have a model 1 with a strat style trem, it's very awesome. One pickup, one knob. Metal goodness. Paid $120 for it in the mid 2000's.

I gave away a model 2 with a Jackson floyd, didn't care for how it sounded but still nice quality otherwise.

If you find one cheap enough, is the kahler spacing the same as a floyd? I'd see these as perfect Gotoh recipients.

The Kahler Fulcrum is well avoided and has a different spacing from all the typical Floyds. However, it has the same spacing as the Kahler Killer, which is awesome if a bit funky-looking.

For a little more than that high price, you can get a 08-09 Charvel USA. Those model series are decent and worth maybe 500$ tops in this market, IMO...but they are far removed from a USA Charvel. Not even close.

Do you guys in the states shop online at Guitar Center for guitars?? So many charvels at good prices sitting there. If they shipped to Canada I'd be tempted!

as others have said they are very good guitars but not worth the money the go for .. necks are nothing like US charvels. They are more like 90/00 Jackson necks

A Model 2 was my first good guitar- bought it new in what would have been '86 or '87?

Solid guitar.

The weird quasi locking trem (I thought it was branded as Jackson, but it could have been Kahler) was trash though- I wore the mounting plate out doing Steve Vai windmills. I had a local music store install a legit Floyd on it.

Sold it eons ago.

I'd avoid those Kahlers at all cost.

Hard agree.

In my experience older Kahler trems are completely clapped out. You'll run into stripped screws, cross threaded set screws or missing parts. I run into the same issues with the older Jackson/Charvels with the proprietary Jackson Floyds as well, but at least you can swap them out for OFRs or Gotoh 1996s. My favorite Kahler is the one that has the internal button to block the trem off, because I will always block it off when someone brings one to me for work.
