Is it a Duncan Distortion or a JB in the San Dimas Charvels? Who is the hookup for Charvel on the forum? Wish there was still the polar white San Dimas with Zebra pickups/chrome floyd available. That guitar looks badass.

These guitars have become my life and I honestly love the JB in them. MY favorite setup hands down.

Most guys like the JB that comes stock in the San Dimas models. I personally have replaced them in mine. I have a Duncan Distortion in one of my Charvels and a Duncan '78 in one and a Mojave PAF in the other.

I think I am the Rig Talk hook up on Charvels.....

Did you see the video I posted a couple of days ago about the new 7th batch? It's here:

The white So-Cal in your Splawn vid, did it come that way or did you change out the pickguard for the hum / single setup? Also was getting a chrome Floyd a custom option (as in more money)? How big is the route under the pickguard on the SO-cal's? Why is the sky blue?

I have a BKP cold sweat in mine at the moment. I am going to try a SD Holdsworth that I just picked up and the VHII I have at the weekend. I will post up my thoughts.

I'm curious to hear what the differences are between the JB and the Holdsworth

If you are even romotely contemplating getting one of these guitars, I can't recomend Curt(Chubtone) Enough. I bought my So cal from him and Ive never gotten better service.
With that said, I think the Charvels will take to any of the duncans but as to what's the best will be highly up to you. I think your best bet is to get one and see how it sounds with the stock pickups and then you can tailor a pickup around what you area hearing because regardless of what anyone tells you each guitar will vary in tone.

Bodies are routed h/s/h under the guard so the shy is the limit with what you want for a config. He changed the guard and changed the floyd.

I would just go with the more expensive pickups available, they sound way better.

There is no way a Seymour Duncan could have blown, there is a guy who is an endorsee and demos the pickups at Namm and the guitar shows who knows the seller of that guitar you bought and says he is a stand up guy.

Interesting, same thing happened to a guy with a Wizard Amplifier.

I know. Makes me think that a Duncan into a Wizard would pretty much still be rocking after a direct hit from small yield warhead. .....or a trip with UPS :aww:

I heavily customized the white one. New pickguard from Warmoth. I sold the brand new hardware on ebay and bought beat up looking but good, used hardware on ebay. It was almost even financially. Pickup rout is H-S-H.
