A drummer buddy of mine has a rehearsal space in Brooklyn and wants to start jamming on a regular basis and I need a good cheap 2ch 2x12 combo to leave there. having an Effects loop would be a nice bonus as well as decent cleans and dirt channels. Im pretty sure I can make the rest work with a few pedals...

Bugera?Peavey?Fender? MArshall JMD?

I've seen Electra Dynes go for silly cheap on the Boogie Board. Amazing amp. What price range are you looking at?

Yeah, gotta state a price range. Depending on that, you could be looking at anything from a Carvin MTS to a Marshall JCM900 or JCM2000 combo. MTS can usually be had for around 300 or less used. Also consider (if you can find one) a Carvin XV combo... it's the combo version of the X100B. Ugly looking amp, but the sound is very good.

Gotta say, lots of good options are there in the 1x12 format that will do really well. Anything from a Mesa Rocket 44, F50/Nomad, etc can be had in the $500-600 range used.

Don't count out a Peavey Classic 50 either. It's a good amp.

I would say 600 tops used , possibly willing to push it to 800 new.. Its not that I cant spend more, I just dont want to considering the circumstances and intended use.

New or used? I would second the notion of an older Carvin X100B... great sounding EL34 amp. Or perhaps a Peavey 6505 combo (used)... passable cleans (IMO) and a good distortion channel that is certainly better for me with a slight boost coming from a pedal (again IMO). If you can find an electradyne in that price range that would be really tempting too. Some of the other Mesas like the F50 etc that you would find in that price range have decent cleans but I've personally not liked the dirty channels much. A used Marshall dsl 2000 combo also comes to mind in that price range.

5150 combo
JCM 800 combo
Soldano Astroverb
Silverface or Reissue Twin (w/pedals)...hard to beat a Twin if you have some decent pedals for your dirty tones

5150 combo will do the job perfectly. I have also heard some of the Line 6 bogner tube heads and they have lots of options. Not sure if this is the bogner or not but pretty cool - Line 6 Spider Valve 212 MKII 40W 2x12.

What about a used Mesa Studio 22+, 2 channels with EQ. Not a 2X12, but nice volume.

Might need a pedal for "heavy," but has nice cleans and nice distortion as well.

They can be had for around $650-$700 used, last I checked.

Good Luck...

I say either a Fender combo with some good pedals, or maybe a River Suprema 55. It's not a 212, but they sound killer and are plenty loud for a 112.
