I bought a cheap Chinese Noisegate pedal from a brand called Azur. It only has a hard/soft switch. I've messed around with it and there is not much of a noticeable difference in noise whether I have it on or off. Maybe I took a chance on the cheap and paid for it.

Yep. You get what you pay for, especially when it comes to noise.

I have a Joyo Gate of Khan noise gate on my board just in case I ever feel like I need one or want to use it kinda as an effect. It's tiny, has one knob and works great. I think it was $45 new.

I have a couple of those Rowin branded noise gates. I bought on amazon for like $35 each. They worked well enough for me, though I don't use them anymore because I have a swithcer and run all my amps through the same Zuul.

I just bought one of those. I saw a clip where a guy silenced his 5150-III hiss with a Mooer Noise Gate and those are supposedly just as good. I'm hoping so.
